Simon H. Fell

Simon H. Fell (1959-2020) was an English double bassist, composer and improviser. He worked across free improvisation and experimental jazz, and he is best known for large numbered compositions, among them the Compilation series, which brought improvisers, jazz players and classically trained musicians into the same scores. Much of his music appeared on his own label, Bruce's Fingers, which he founded in 1983. Fell's Compilation series ran to four projects, from Compilation I and Compilation II to Composition No. 30: Compilation III and Composition No. 62: Compilation IV.
