Theatre du Chene Noir
Théâtre du Chêne Noir is a theatre company from Avignon founded in the late 1960s by the writer and director Gérard Gelas, whose actors also played the music in its shows. It is known to record collectors for Aurora (1971), a record of narration, voices and instrumental music issued by Gérard Terronès on Futura. The company is based in the former chapel of the Sainte-Catherine abbey in Avignon, and Steve Lacy recorded his album Solo at the theatre in 1972. Aurora was recorded in Avignon on 22 and 23 June 1971, shortly after the piece was staged at Ariane Mnouchkine's Théâtre du Soleil.
