Vortex
Vortex was a French group from Lyon, active from 1975 to 1980 and led by the brothers Jean-Pierre Vivante (piano, keyboards) and Jacques Vivante (bass). The band started from jazz rock in the vein of Soft Machine and moved toward composed chamber rock on its second album, Les Cycles De Thanatos, which took a Messiaen work as its starting point. Most of the first line-up came from Testu Band, a Soft Machine cover group, and the new band was first called Urantia.
