The Idealist is one of the many projects of Joachim Nordwall who has a long history in Swedish experimental music running the quintessential iDEAL Recordings record label since 1998, as a member of the psych drone duo Alvars Orkester, avant punk rock trio Kid Commando and ritual drone rock group The Skull Defekts and through his many solo recordings and collaborations with people such as John Duncan, Aaron Dilloway, Mika Vainio, Mats Gustafsson, Leif Elggren, Gabi Losoncy, Mark Wastell and Chris…
*In process of stocking.* "I saw Thomas Bush play in a field in France a couple of years ago. Remembering it now, it seems to me he was wearing a woolly jumper despite the summer heat. He laid all of his instruments out on the grass, I think there was a recorder, a guitar maybe and various boxes and pedals. The details of my memory are hazy but I can bring the feeling of the music to mind. Some of what he did seemed scrappy or confusing at first. But when everything came together the effect was …
*In process of stocking.* "Soft Estate are a band I don’t know. Their songs are here and gone, gauzy, blank and romantic. This record is a brief heady waltz through a hall of mirrors. Drum machines tick past, oil and water synths swirl by and and a sleepy solemn voice sings. The reflections of 40 years of art-school electronics are pulled and twisted into new shapes. I can hear broadcast, AC Marias, Rexy, Lydia Tomkiw, Solid Space. And then before I know it I’m out the other side blinking in the…
The music for The Spiral was first created as soundscapes to a multimedia spatial installation (with the same title) initiated and curated by last oblivion in spring 2019. The installation took place at Basement, Copenhagen april 2019 and was open for 7 days with events and happenings specifically curated for each evening. The music was released on tape by Amatör Kassetter in september same year and later released on vinyl by Förlag för Fri Musik 04/18/2020.
A collection of cassette recordings made in Athens by Christos Chondropoulos over the last five years. Coming from an avant-garde percussion background, Christos calls upon themes of ancient Greek folklore and musical tradition through a futurist lens depicting robotic societies in post-human harmony. He constructs worlds reminiscent of Marcello Giombini’s Mondial Folk series or Umiliani’s exoticised Omicron outings. By looking to the future rather than the far-off past, he builds upon these ear…
Marc Romboy deploys his first new material in eight years with the classically computed electronic wizardry of Voyage de la planete. Filtering a vision of abstract synthesis with a well-trained ear for melody, Voyage de la planete's ten tracks brilliantly cross the borders of downtempo-tronica' with a fizzing melodic structure that is sure to place it at the front of the listening habits of everyone from deep house heads to the abstract jazz enthusiasts.
*In process of stocking. 100 copies limited edition* Misha Sultan is a multi-instrumentalist originally from Novosibirsk in the heart of Siberia. His hometown's location, in the hinterlands between Europe and Asia provides a deep well of inspiration for his music.
Hive Mind have been happy to work with Misha to bring you this stunning collection of recordings made between 2015 and 2022 which we hope will serve as a great introduction to Misha's unique sound which appropriates elements of Eurasia…
"Wizards was my first deep trance electronic music album. This album was inspired by Terry Riley, one of the earliest people ever to compose and perform long, extended, cyclic pieces in the electronic format. This music was composed and performed in '81 and '82. I consider this album my best work. The instrumentation is three Sequential Circuits PRO-1s, Crumar Traveler One, and a Yamaha SK-20, all real time recording to a Teac four-track reel-to-reel. I mixed the four tracks to a Teac A-7300 Mas…
On Rain Forest Music (1981) J D Emmanuel builds gentle, short cycles of notes into floating clouds of sound, mostly improvising around single chords. The "minimalism" in his music lies not in repetitive patterns that barely change but more in the spare arrangements that focus the listener while also taking them on a sonic journey.
A tape loop technique used by Brian Eno, Terry Riley, Robert Fripp (and likely many more) called Continuous Looping was used in the creation of this album and a loo…
A forgotten classic! Created between 1981 and 1985 by JD Emmanuel, a new age composer who has received a lot of praise from people like Lieven Martens and John Olsen. These recordings signify Emmanuel's praise to the course of the day. Starting off slowly with morning synth meanderings, walking through midday, running in the evening, and closing the day with midnight meditation. "Somewhere hidden in the deepest part of the Self is that special place, where One can go within to the most ancient p…
Elliott Sharps's release on Erototox Decodings is no different in terms of his ongoing homage to science, entitled 'Phlogiston', aptly named after a substance supposed by 18th-century chemists to exist in all combustible bodies, and to be released in combustion. It’s also his first purely electronic and synthesized record to date.
6 panel CD Digipak with Silver ink. Available now on deluxe CD digipak and soon to follow on vinyl, we are very honored and happy to offer you Zuhaus on Erototox D…
Animist Pools was released July 1, 2016 in a cassette limited edition on Human Pitch records. Originally released as "Hippies Wearing Muzzles", pseudonym of Lee Evans. This is a limited vinyl edition of this amazing record of ambient. "A shifting center in a stream of rippling analog tones, the music of Hippies Wearing Muzzles is orchestrated to transfix, echoing sounds heard in nature with modular synthesizers and the powerful element of chance. Evoking the Fourth World Music of Jon Hassel or t…

Brian Conniffe is a cross-genre, experimental musician who has worked with a long list of collaborators including Nurse With Wound, notable for a style which fuses the darkest psychedelia with disquieting ambience. Kiyoharu Kuwayama (Lethe) is a Nagoya-based artist who began creating work in 1988 using a halftone-scale violin, household items, and other assorted found junk. After numerous collaborative performances and recordings, he began the ongoing "Catastrophe Point" series which makes use of the resonant qualities of huge abandoned industrial buildings.
For this release, we have chosen two pieces of his guitar work from the mid to late 90s. The release is a dual format LP and cassette set, with the fi…
*300 copies limited edition. Artwork with full-tone color* Technology and imperfection. The raw and the processed. Curator and curated. Solo explorer and gregarious collaborator. The life and work of Taylor Deupree are less a study in contradictions than a portrait of the multidisciplinary artist in a still-young century.
Deupree is an accomplished sound artist whose recordings, rich with abstract atmospherics, have appeared on numerous record labels, and well as in site-specific installations a…
Tip!**Much-needed small repress available, and in process of stocking** Behind the mysterious name 'Läuten der Seele' comes the eponymous solo debut-album from Christian Schoppik, half of the confidentially acclaimed experimental dark folk duo Brannten Schnüre from Wurzburg (DE). The record is composed of 12 abstract audio collages based on transformed sampled loops from German 50’s Heimatfilme features -a popular domestic genre involving rural settings, romantic tone and simplistic morality, c…
*2022 stock* The duo Minit (Jasmine Guffond and Torben Tilly) have taken a slightly more melancholic turn for their first release on Staubgold. Their two previous efforts released on the Sigma label were more abstract. This one marks an increase in lushness, smoothness, and dreamy near-melodies. In fact, Now Right Here could be described as a cross between Fennesz's Venice and Rosy Parlane's Iris. It has the filtered instrumental/melodic component of the former and the softer noise textures of t…
*2022 stock* 1986's Rituals is one of the best-kept secrets of the Belgian synth-pop/coldwave movement -- sinister, dark, with touching melodies. Peter Bonne and Geert Coppens had already been playing for a few years in other projects such as Autumn and Linear Movement, and in 1985 they managed to create this stunning album. Highlights on the album include "I Never Called You a Dream," "Rooms," "Amorphous Materials," "Closed Circuit," and every other track. When the LP was originally released, b…
*2022 stock* A collaboration of the legendary Richard Pinhas (of Heldon fame) and Japanese noise artist Merzbow would be worthy of note. Add in Wolf Eyes, the trio of Mike Connelly, John Olson, and Nathan Young, and you have the potential for a truly chaotic sonic assault. But that doesn’t happen. Instead, this quintet provides a symphonic soundscape that maintains a slow boil.
Recorded live at FIMAV 2011, the release consists of a 48-minute performance, followed by a 9-minute encore. Unlike som…
