Scott 4
From the 2013 remasters taken from the original analogue tapes Back to Black is proud to present Scott Walker’s fourth album. This was his first record to be entirely filled with his own compositions. Songs were credited to Scott Engel and the mood became even more reflective. Here the influence to come into play was Ingmar Bergman - and the album opens with the song – The Seventh Seal – his version of the film in five minutes. For many the highlights of this album are Angels of Ashes and Boy Ch…
Time Machine
2016 stock. Originally released in 1973 on famous German label Bacillus, Dzyan’s 2nd album “Time Machine” showed a “new” Dzyan line-up consisting of guitar player Eddy Marron (also playing a lot of other string instruments), bass genius, band founder and “mastermind” Reinhard Karwatky and drummer Peter Giger. Produced by Peter Hauke and recorded and mixed by great engineer Dieter Dierks the trio performed on Time Machine a new sound mutating away from vocal-prog-rock of the first album to explor…

Enfin!
French pianist Jef Gilson came up in the ‘60s and played in a straight-ahead hard bop style and also made forays into Afro-jazz and free jazz, including a noteworthy version of Pharoah Sanders’ “The Creator Has a Master Plan.” He featured the young violinist Jean Luc Ponty on some early recordings, and also appeared on Magma drummer Christian Vander’s Vander et les Trois Jeffs. The pianist led numerous ensembles ranging from trios to creative big bands during his career, including the Jef Gils…
San Francisco Museum Of Art, January 16th, 1965
Recorded live by KPFA Radio in the halls of the sculpture court of the San Francisco Museum of Art on January 16, 1965, the day of 39th birthday of fellow pianist and longtime associate David Tudor, this historic concert with John Cage opens with a duet for Cymbal with contact microphones agitated by a wide gamut of objects and concludes with Variations IV in which loudspeakers outside the performance space interacted with speakers next to the audience. First release on vinyl for a very importan…
Drumming
** few copies back in stock** Milestone!! This three-LP set, originally released on Deutsche Grammophon in 1974 finally available again in a faithful replica limited edition, is arguably the pinnacle of minimalism. Along with Terry Riley's In C and perhaps Glass' early piano music, Drumming defined the essential component of this new form of music: a transparent process that could imperceptibly lead to bewildering complexity. Crucially, Steve Reich added an extra ingredient: rhythms derived from…
Nothing Here Now but the Recordings
2016 small repress. In 1980, Genesis P-Orridge and Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson (then of Throbbing Gristle renown) travelled to New York City to meet up at the fortified apartment, known as The Bunker, of famed beat writer and cultural pioneer William S. Burroughs and his executor James Grauerholz to starting the daunting task to compile the experimental sounds works of Burroughs, which, up until that point, had never been heard. During those visits, Burroughs would play back his tape record…
Royaume/Aimant + Aimant -
This is the second of three reissues focusing on the works of Étant Donnés based on field recording and voice. Royaume (originally released on CD by Touch in 1991) is made up of four tracks and is a kind of purifying journey through the four elements that symbolically refers to the light evoked by the color green, an allegory of the grail and of the light-bringing angel. As to the poems, they tend to amount to their essentials, as is the case on the track "Matin," which is both Taoist and surrea…
Dark Fat
...A celebration and documentation of 10 years of Nurse With Wound shows but to call Dark Fat a live album is far too simplistic. It is an entirely new recording constructed by combining the most interesting moments of the past decade into unique tracks. We have M.S. Waldron to thank as he is archival commandant of the NWW oeuvre and since 2006 has recorded everything and we mean everything. He has recorded all the live shows, sound-checks, rehearsals, off-stage events and even covertly re…
Teachings of Eastern Traditions
The alignment of two esoteric/ritual dark ambient minds. The woven threads of the lunar goddesses manifold thrice around the solar temples of Samadhi. The lodge of Shibalba and the circle of Phurpa have stepped beyond the crimson shores of Malkuth to unite the mysteries of Vama Marga with the unique tradition of Bon. Plasmoglitch
Machinistic processings by Le Syndicat and Pharmakustik, recorded between 2008 and 2014 in France at the Noisecraft Workshop and in Germany at Pharmakustik studio. The original concept for these recordings was developed by Pharmakustik in 2008. The final mix and arrangements were done by Le Syndicat in 2014. This project was dedicated to the gourmets of acoustic scramjets, rotational speed, sensoric rhythmofractures and metallurgical decompostition.
Enka Mood Collection
Aoki Tomoyuki is mostly known with as the guitarist & vocalist of  Up-Tight (Alchemy records, 8mm)  and  for more than 2 decades he has been behind some albums which mix plaintive echo-drenched imprecations, love of bitter-sweet folk and blissfully nihilistic guitar noise reminiscent of Les Rallizes Denudes and Mizutani’s velvetian ballads.Harutaka Mochizuki is a multi-instrumentalist, mostly known his saxophone improvisations recalling like the same other lonely satellites and solo thinkers lik…
Music for Piano and Strings by Morton Feldman. Volume 3
At its best Feldman's music can take our breath away, providing a revelatory experience, a transparency which has no need of argument. Thinking back to Piano and String Quartet there are moments of extraordinary beauty when, through a sudden change of register, darkness enshrouds the music; elsewhere the string sound enshrouds the piano arpeggios. Morton Feldman seems to occupy a metaphysical space and encroaches on the domain of spirituality normally associated with religion. Thus art w…
Being Near
Had the titular contest in guy maddin's "the saddest music in the world" not been rigged from the onset, turkey could have delivered an impeccable contestant in ekin fil. for many years now, her spectral dream-pop deconstructions hold a thousand-yard stare of an unconsolable melancholy; and she's drawn the highly favorable comparisons to grouper and lovesliecrushing thanks to her understated yet beloved catalogue of releases on root strata, students of decay, no kings, and sacred phrases. helen …
Places I Know / The Machine Gun Co.
After two years of tireless work to liberate these long out-of-print masterpieces from the vaults, Paradise of Bachelors is proud to present the first artist-sanctioned reissues—and first-ever vinyl reissues—of iconoclastic English-born, Rome-based folk and experimental music legend Mike Cooper’s classic trio of early 1970s avant-folk/rock records: Trout Steel (1970), Places I Know (1971), and The Machine Gun Co. with Mike Cooper (1972). The latter two titles are presented for the very first tim…
The Guardian
Reissue of the 1982 LP by Chicago street musician, bluesman, actor, storyteller and truth seeker known as Little Howlin' Wolf. Wolf is also a true outsider, whose wrenching soulfulness and fire-brained intensity have been captured in a breadcrumb trail of confounding and intentionally obscure self-released records. In the late 1960s Wolf -- born James Pobiega in 1950 -- was already a saxophone wailing fixture at the legendary Chicago hangout, Maxwell Street Market. By the mid-1980s he rele…
Trembling Shade
Recorded live at Exploratorium, Berlin on 19 March 2015 by Johannes von Wrochem. Berlin is truly the spiritual home of The Sealed Knot - with the trio having played there numerous times since it's debut in the city at Ramschift Zitrone in 2002. In more recent times we've been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to perform at regular yearly intervals, the most recent of which is the concert captured on this recording from Exploratorium in March 2015. Many thanks to Matthias Schwabe for the i…

Christian Wolfarth's work clearly thrives on tactility and manipulation. In he also applied some techniques to concoct and subsequently remodel the acoustic substance on offer. On the one hand, his instrumental expertness is in evidence: one the other, processes of cut-and-paste and natural-sounding looping furnish several sections with potent connotations: relievingly hyptnotic a moment, almost suffocating the next. In fact, there are dynamic surpises waiting for the listener. In the fi…
