Money For All
This mini-album is the follow-up release to the highly acclaimed debut album from Nine Horses Snow Borne Sorrow. Nine Horses is a collaborative project that brings together David Sylvian, his brother Steve Jansen (ex-Japan), and the well-respected Burnt Friedman. They have created a suite of remarkably poignant songs that are part social commentary and part self-analysis. Sylvian and his collaborators have never sounded better nor the material more immediate. Money For All is a mini-album that i…
Sound body
David Toop's Sound Body hums and glows with life, five gorgeous morphing electronic tracks that continue Samadhisound's exploration of quiet, minimal, melodic music worlds created by the likes of Harold Budd, Akira Rabelais, Fennesz, Derek Bailey, David Sylvian and others. These remarkable soundscapes have only become possible in the twenty-first century, when improvisation, digital composing and mixing, and traditional music forms from around the globe all mutate and fuse in ways that surprise …
Full Steam Ahead!
Reel Recordings presents a collection of newly discovered recordings from Harry Miller's Isipingo -- originally recorded 1975-78. South African bassist Harry Miller (1941-1983) retains stature as an internationally recognized player who possessed both technical virtuosity and limitless musicality. One needs to only consider his gorgeous bass playing within the Mike Westbrook Concert Band and the legendary Brotherhood of Breath, to cite but two. During the mid-'70s, Harry Miller formed Isipingo, …
Crossing Borders
This is a previously unreleased recording from the late '70s by Bob Downes Open Music. Bob Downes is a multi-instrumentalist composer possessing a distinctive musical personality and prowess. Through bodily breath emanates sublime sounds from an array of flutes, poignant patterns from his alto and tenor saxophone performances, and engaging expressions of complimentary vocalizations. Open Music is the moniker under which Bob has produced an eclectic range of records since 1968. However, none of t…
Secret Asylum
Ray Russell is a composer whose wild explorations and sonic extensions of the electrified guitar set him aside from the famed British guitar heroes of the late '60s and '70s. Ray's rhythm and blues roots with The John Barry Seven, Georgie Fame, and the Graham Bond Organisation were set aside by the urgent call of the free jazz movement, and a succession of classic recordings (Turn Circle, Dragon Hill, Rites & Rituals, Live at the ICA, The Running Man) gave rise to his most challenging and ultima…
DNA on DNA
New York's seminal no wave band, DNA, makes it's highly anticipated American CD debut with this definitive collection of studio and live recordings. Surviving two line-ups over a brief period of four years; this highly influential, strikingly original and extremely under-recorded band left a huge void in its wake. Formed in 1978, Brazilian-raised singer/guitarist Arto Lindsay hastily assembled an international trio of non-musicians. Robin Crutchfield played keyboard and Japan's Ikue Mori played …

The Echo From The Purple Dawn
The Echo From The Purple Dawn is a brand new full length from C.C.C.C. member Hiroshi Hasegawa's solo project, Astro. Using a battery of oscillators, ring modulators and field recordings, Hasegawa has created an engaging and versatile album that masterfully drifts between spaced-out analog dream drone and a more extreme form of harsher droning. As Astro, Hasegawa is able to combine some of the harsher influences of C.C.C.C. into the world of analog space music to create the signature sounds of A…
The West
Forget the rest, this is the definitive Matmos album, once again brought to fresh ears with a much-needed repress. The original version appeared on the Western Vinyl imprint and was available as a deadly limited vinyl-only run that disappeared within weeks. The CD edition features a bonus track and includes the likes of Dave Pajo, Jay Lesser and Steve Goodfriend lending a hand to the mid-western feel of the remarkable proceedings within. An absolute perfect gem of a record - those of you new to …
Ritual-All-7-70
Alan Sondheim was the young, exuberant leader of a pack of improvisers in their communal loft in Providence, Rhode Island. Undaunted by attempts to categorize electronic music as the province of academic tinkerers, a cold, unfriendly realm, with its own authorities, and audiences and mystique, they plunged fearlessly, joyously and unselfconsciously into the medium, discovering a new way to express their ideas. Their ESP CDs, ESP 1048, Ritual all 7-70 and ESP 1082, T'Other Little Tune, merge free…
Red Lion
You can remove a Kiwi from New Zealand but you sure as hell can't remove New Zealand from a Kiwi. Such is the case with Christchurch transplant, Peter Wright. Over the course of a decade, Wright has etched his name in glass in the annals of drone-world superstardom. And while I'm not sure what that really means, the point is that when it comes to soaring dronescapes, few do it better than Peter Wright. He has helped pave the way with contemporaries such as Birchville Cat Motel and Double Leopard…
Corrected Slogans
Originally released in 1976, Corrected Slogans presents the first audible stirrings of Red Crayola since their 1968 God Bless the Red Crayola and All Who Sail With It. In the intervening years, Mayo Thompson made what has been hailed as the finest album in the history of rock music (Corky's Debt To His Father), moved from Texas to NY, and began to collaborate with the group of artists known collectively as Art & Language. As a provisional propaganda piece, Corrected Slogans is rancorously, unaba…
Media Dreams
This is the companion to Disco 3000, made on the same classic Italian quartet tour with John Gilmore, Michael Ray (trumpet) and the minimal but perfect Luqman Ali (drums). Ra himself plays piano and electronic keyboards, including the mysterious Crumar Mainman, which Ra describes as 'like a piano, organ, clavichord, cello, violin and brass instruments' and which also, importantly, has a facility for pre-programmed bass lines and electronic percussion, which Ra uses constantly and to great effect…
Tilburg
A live recording made in Paradox in Tilburg in October 2007. Over the past twenty years one of the bigger enigma's of 'industrial' music or 'modern musique concrete' has been THU20. They seldom record or play live, yet when they do, a lot of attention is placed on the detail. In the studio this leads to perfectly shaped sonic constructions, and in a live concert a detailled balance between the various interests of the five players involved. The computer work of Jos Smolders and Roel Meelkop, the…
Around The Corner
Balancing on the edge where sound turns into music, ./morFrom/. corners eight pieces on their second CD, displaying a provocative morph between impro and music concrète. A choice of archived field recordings are put up against improvised guitar, organ and electronix and together form an intriguing and humorous musical conversation. The result, varying from droney to bumpy and lightweight to gloomy, is surprising, tumbling from completely free into small arrangements and back, nevertheless keepin…
Here & There
./morFrom/.is a swiss based duo - Jeroen Visser (harmonium, electronics, binaurals) & Julien Baillod (guitar, electronics, samples). We are interested in acoustic spaces, sonic textures, movies, sculptures. We like working with analog and digital instruments on the limits of sounds and public domain environments to create free musical stories." Chain DLK : "./morFrom/. are a duo formed by Swiss musician Julien Baillod (guitar, electronics, laptop) and his Dutch colleague Jeroen Visser (harmonium…
Orgue De Bois
In the last few years, with their Orgue de bois (Wooden Organ), Denis Tricot and Eric Cordier have installed constructions which are at the same time sculpture and musical instrument in many public spaces. Each Wooden Organ is unique, conceived for the space that will receive it. A monument, a square, a street, a city... With it's long undulating wooden lines (successions of joined slats), it creates privileged spaces which are exposed to the public eye. After a performance, the audience is free…
Kinetics
'Kinetics is the third release of Tom & Gerry, the other ongoing duo of myself and Thomas Lehn. These performances come from Ulrichsberg, Austria; Köln, Germany and the Densités festival in Fresnes-en-Woëvre, France. Thomas recorded these performances multitrack with his excellent equipment and so the quality of the recording is very high. Additionally we also worked collaboratively mixing and editing these recordings, a process that takes months and engages us in a very detailed discussion of c…
Signatures
These pieces were composed without the use of a computer, only a turntable, old sampler and a portable 64-track digital workstation. Each track is a distillation of commercially available recordings with the essential qualities remaining, only very brief sections are selected and the raw components then contracted into gradually shifting and unfolding atmospheres, offering subtle nuances and quiet restraint. Fragments from these tracks include sounds from birds or water, some being partially obs…
