A limited edition compilation celebrating Hans-Joachim Roedelius' 90th birthday includes four LPs of previously unpublished material. The majority of the music on 90 originates from Revox 2-track recordings from 1968 to 1980. The Revox tapes, created with his Echolette tape delay and Farfisa organ—the same equipment used by Roedelius to record his beloved Selbstportrait records and much of his seminal work with Dieter Moebius and Michael Rother—document the processes and sounds that continue to …
The collaboration between Brian Eno, one of the main figure in ambient music, Holger Czukay, a pioneer of krautrock from the band Can, and J. Peter Schwalm, a German composer, resulted in the creation of a musical project called Sushi. Roti. Reibeckuchen - a unique live collaboration. The impromptu performance was documented in 1998 in Bonn, Germany, but it has recently been released to the global audience.
*Deluxe edition* Once called 'the world's most important rock group' by Brian Eno, legendary minimalist avant-garde band Harmonia was formed in the early '70s by Michael Rother of Neu! and Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius of Cluster. Although this supergroup produced only two studio albums - 1974's Musik von Harmonia and 1975's Deluxe - they were very influential and perfectly embodied the Krautrock ideal. While leaning slightly towards Cluster's ambient sound, they were also entirely t…

A few months after the foundation of Can, Holger Czukay recorded his first solo album ‘Canaxis’, in conjunction with producer/engineer Rolf Dammers, this album was assembled from thousands of snippets recorded from short wave radio, a long standing obsession of Czukay's which he also incorporated into some of Can's later albums. A refugee during the Second World War, Holger Czukay famously studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen in the early ‘60s. That direct exposure to the challenging and experimen…

* Much-needed 2022 repress **A true Krautrock classic from the archives. In 1976 Brian Eno visited Harmonia's studio in the Weserbergland region of northern Germany to create what would become one of the most cherished artifacts of the genre on 'Tracks and Traces'. Harmonia comprised of multi instrumentalists Hans Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Mobius (also known as Cluster) with former Kraftwerk and Neu member, Michael Rother, and together with the like-minded synth maestro Eno they created twelv…

** 2022 Limited Repress, white vinyl ** Neu! were formed by Kraftwerk members Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger who took the sparse early Kraftwerk electronic sound and utilized many effects like lock-groove rhythms and minimalist melodies currently used by today's electronic artists. Neu! created a new kind of rhythm that bridged the gap between rock n roll's syncopation and dance music's four-to-the-floor beats. Stereolab's Tim Gane says "Neu!'s longer tracks are far closer to the future of hous…
**2022 Repress ** Stripped down to the core duo of Robert Görl and Gabi Delgado and with Conny Plank again behind the boards with crisp, focused production, with Alles Ist Gut (Everything Is Fine) DAF turned into an honest-to-goodness German hit machine, as detailed in the 1998 Mute reissue's liner notes by Biba Kopf. Even more important and impressive was how they did it -- keeping the electronic brutality that characterized them, but stripped down to nothing but Görl's massive drumming, elect…
A photographic essay by David Sylvian. A limited edition publication: 500 copies signed and numbered by the artist. 50 signed, unnumbered copies randomly distributed among the remaining edition.
** 2021 Stock ** Groenland unearth and reissue DAF's 2nd album 'Die Kleinen und die Bösen'. It predates 'Der Mussolini' by over a year and is actually much more diverse and fruity than much of their later work, yet still adheres to the stringently minimal aesthetics which have always been a prime component in the DAF machine. It was recorded at Conny Plank's legendary studio and hence still sounds amazing...
Krautrock ‘supergroup’ Harmonia has their complete works reissued as mindblowing 5 CD box set. The band were formed of Michael Rother of Neu! and Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Möbius of Cluster, with Brian Eno joining for sessions in 1976. Of the three studio albums Musik von Harmonia (1974) and Deluxe (1975) were issued in the original era. The third album Tracks and Traces from the ’76 sessions wasn’t released until 1997 under the Harmonia ’76 moniker.
The box set includes all three of tho…
Grönland casually drop a rocket's worth of virgin krautrock fuel with the previously unreleased 'Documents 1975' tape capturing Moebius, Roedelius, Rother and Eno playing live between their idyllic Forst studio and venues in Hamburg. With likely reams of reels to pick from, they've carefully chosen to highlight four performances best showcasing the group's pioneering work from a variety of aspects. The two pieces recorded at Forst are little short of magick, capturing two sublime and uplifting f…
Beautiful legit 2015 reissue on Groenland, truly a brilliant little album from Harmonia – quite possibly their greatest record ever, and a set that's wonderfully balanced between progressive and electronic modes! There's a live drummer on the set – Mani Neumeier of Guru Guru – and although he still plays with a spare, circular mode that recalls the Harmonia rhythms of before, there's also a slight bit of propulsion here too – one that pushes the keyboards and guitars alongside nicely. There's al…

It was Rother's first solo venture after having recorded five albums prior as a member of Neu! with Klaus Dinger and Harmonia with Cluster. "The album was recorded between June and September 1976 in Germany at Conny's Studio. …
With a 50 year plus music career, Michael Rother is one of modern German music’s great trailblazers. A founder member of NEU! with Klaus Dinger, Rother helped to pioneer Kosmische Musik. There was also the Harmonia project with Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius of Cluster which led to him becoming the original first choice of David Bowie to play guitar on ‘Heroes’, although that promising partnership never became reality. When NEU! split after three albums in 1975, Rother embarked on an…
A total peach comes back into circulation with Holger Czukay’s beguiling, heavily grooving ‘Full Circle’, starring crucial input from his Can bandmate Jaki Liebzeit on drums and Jah Wobble weilding the bass
Instantly loveable for the grooving punk-disco ear worm of album opener ‘How Much Are They? - a big anthem in mid ‘80s Belgium and elsewhere - listeners will also encounter the muggy dub of ‘Where’s The Money?’ and the playfully exotic concrète-jazz-funk of ‘Full Circle R.P.S. (No. 7)’, along…
