Pianos in The Kitchen brings together select concert recordings of solo piano works performed at The Kitchen from 1976 through 1983, including works from the 1976 Bösendorfer Festival and the 1983 series of benefit concerts that supported the purchase of a new Steinway Baby Grand piano for the…
The Zeitkratzer label releases a limited 3CD box documenting international avant-garde soloists ensemble Zeitkratzer, and their collaborations with groundbreaking electronic musicians spanning nearly a decade. This set collects all three previously-released Electronics recordings (ZKR 004CD/ZKR 005CD/ZKR 006CD), made in Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Austria with non-academic electronic musician Carsten Nicolai (aka Alva Noto), electro-acoustic composer Terre Thaemlitz, and legendary Japanese…
First vinyl effort for this italian percussionist and first wax for second sleep too.Living in Ravenna, Malatesta studies percussions at Conservatory in Bologna. Although his pitch is strictly academic, what always impressed me was his extreme physicality and punk attitude he has in everything. He collaborated with Christian Wolfarth, Lorenzo Senni, Seijiro Murayama. What Enrico offer here are two side of fast and dynamic structured pieces, decise hissing sounds collide with more delicated…
Beautiful string experiments by Tashi Wada, son of original Fluxus member Yoshi Wada. Julia Holter is a fan of his, and from the strength of these pieces, so are we. Hand-stamped edition in wrap-around jacket** "Tashi Wada is a San Francisco-based composer and performer whose recent work focuses on sound perception as a basis for direct modes of listening. His work has been performed throughout the United States and Europe, and for several years now he has performed alongside his father, …
Shoals (Edition) is a companion release to Taylor Deupree’s 2010 full-length CD Shoals. This limited edition 7” record has a shortened version of “A Fading Found” (from the album) on Side A and a B-Side called “Sere.” While the 7” format only allows for brief works - and in this case extracted from much longer compositions - Edition creates intimate and physical vignettes into these highly acoustic and tactile recordings.
'd'incise is a member of the Audioactivity, music & visual collective founded in 2000 in Geneva (CH). In 2002 he starded to produce different kinds of electronic music, from dub to electronica, dangerously sliding to the more experimental ways of electroacoustic. His world is made with sound fractures, nevralgic crepitations, melancolic atmospheres and a non-dissimulated fascination for rust and faded rhythms. 'Lethargie...' , his newest CD, is not far from described above. A mixture of f…
Long awaited new album by the enigmatic composer Angelo Petronella, in a superb piece of electroacoustic microsound, intertwining scrupulous minimalism, environmental recordings, and an intense drone nebula. The liner notes to Rimandi E Scoperte are esoteric to say the least, with statements like "In my place there is an arch, both an entrance and a barrier, both a passage and a wall" which clarify little in terms of how this music was made or what processes are involved. That's probably the wa…
In recent years, there has been a surge of electronic artists, for the most part new comers, who have rejected the digital approach which had dominated since the nineties in favour of the more organic analogue textures pioneered during the late sixties and well into the seventies by German experimental musicians, from the most exploratory, with the likes of Emeralds or Oneohtrix Point Never, to the bulk of the Scandinavian disco scene, spearheaded by Lindstrøm, Prins Thomas and DiskJokke.…
A picture disc featuring artwork by David Horowitz and music from Xiu Xiu and Father Murphy. You get Xiu Xiu's "I Luv Abortion," backed with Father Murphy's "In the Flood With the Flood."
This one-time limited edition of 750 copies comes from Austria's Comfortzone label and catches Mika Vainio in swaggering backroom dancefloor mode again for a 2nd, Jukebox-styled 7". A-side is a corrosive, killer slice of Industro-Bashment called 'Rasputin 3000', all skeletal rhythmic swagger and elemental distortion. B-side features an even more stripped down and haunted number called 'Devil Arrives To Finspång'. Nobody does this thing quite like Vainio - miss out at your peril!
New tour disc of solo material from Tom Carter (made for May's Charalambides UK/EU tour). The first track, 'Train Kept', was previously issued on the long out of print split LP with Barn Owl. This is the first time it has been released on CD. The second track, 'Hurricane Isis' is a new track recorded by Marcia Bassett in Tilburg, Netherlands in March 2008. 'Train Kept' was recorded the month before 'Hurricane Isis'. Both tracks are absolute raging guitar pieces, similar to Carter's 'Shots …
In this work I am approaching the analogue synthesizer Yamaha CS-40M. I built up the research in a journalistic kind of way. At first I made a plan of procedures, gave myself a problem formulation. In my first step I was looking for sounds that represent the „soul“ of this instrument. The next step was abstracting these sounds without losing the specific character of the instrument. An unconventional click sound was the result. This sound was then fed with additional information, fie…
Edition of 500 copies 4xCD box from Lasse Marhaug’s Pica Disk label that works as a career retrospective for Mr Yasutoshi Yoshida’s Government Alpha project. Spanning the years 1992-1999, the box gathers previously unreleased early material alongside limited edition cassettes, lathes and CD-Rs. In the booklet that accompanies the set (which also includes full-colour reproductions of Yoshida’s amazing collages) Yoshida cites Nurse With Wound and Accept (!?) as his formative influences and the ear…
2012 repress; originally released 2006. Biosphere is Norwegian composer and performer Geir Jenssen, and this is his fifth release for Touch. In the early 1990s he was a pioneer of so-called "ambient techno," but since then, he has refined his sound into something more magnetic and enduring. Dropsonde isn't a soundtrack like the interwoven Substrata nor an episodic journey in the way that Autour de la Lune is. Here Geir Jenssen is pushing new directions towards the jazz colors of Miles Davis a…
Coppice (Noé Cuéllar & Joseph Kramer) is a Chicago-based duet of bellows and electronics. Since its formation in 2009 they have produced original compositions for stage, fixed media, and performed installation settings, with a focus on adhering textural attenuation, processed gradation, the contours of instrumentation, and their multiple aspect highlights.Their variable instrumentation departs from bellows and reed instruments (accordion, pump organ, shruti box, harmonica), custom electronics (…

From then on he mostly concentrated on musical composition. During this illness he had the opportunity to become acquainted with the radio…
Just Arrived: Philip Jeck makes geniunely moving and transfixing music, where we hear the art not the gimmick. Philip Jeck writes: A version of An ark for the listener was first performed at Kings Place London on 24/02/2010. It is a meditation on verse 33 of The Wreck of the Deutchsland, Gerard Manley Hopkins poem about the drowning on December 7th 1875 of five Franciscan nuns exiled from Germany. This CD version was recorded at home in Liverpool and used extracts from live performances ov…
AWSOME!! The Time Machine project was conceived in order to find a simple and immediate way to work with rhythm. I built two cheap and imprecise, almost-square wave oscillators with a wide range of frequencies. These oscillators can sweep and cross-modulate from rare pulse to high audio signals. I use a mixer to create feedback between the filters, CV and audio signals and simply record the output; there are no overdubs.' Renato Rinaldi studied drama, composition and electronic music. Afte…
