Ghedalia Tazartes

Country: France

Ghédalia Tazartès (1947 to 2021) was one of France's most idiosyncratic talents. From the mid 1970s, in a Paris apartment, he mined a universe of his own: berserk intoning and wailing glossolalia, rough-hewn tape collage and a loose mulch of instruments from everywhere, all rubbing against each other's grain to strange and often comic effect, sung and cut by one man alone. Diasporas (1979) and Tazartès (1987) are the records that made his name among collectors.
