* 2020 Stock * A Jazzy Profile of Jojo is composed of standard jazz masterpieces interpreted by Masayuki Takayanagi. It was recorded in March 1970 immediately after the start of the New Direction (1969). Legendary recordings with Kaoru Abe such as "Dismantling Sympathy" were also performed in the same period. Considering this, "A Jazzy Profile of Jojo" can be defined as a representative recording of Takayanagi's jazz style at a time when the transition from the more established forms of jazz to the exploration methods of free jazz was taking place. While songs like "Prelude In Chords" and "Prelude No.4, Op.16" are played almost according to the musical score, other tracks are dominated by the free form of Takayanagi's musical expression. Hiroshi Yamazaki's drums enhance the unique charm of this recording giving a powerful dynamism to the rhythm section.

This release is the second reprint on the CD and maintains the design of the original LP jacket. Includes a commentary by Akira Aida, published at the time of the first release in 1970 and a commentary written on the knowledge and perspective unique to Kazuo Imai, who studied under Masayuki Takayanagi. - Osamu Aoki
