"Apocalypse of Intimacy" immerses you in a distinct sound universe of Concrète Pop. Strange and inventive, yet unmistakably felt. As if some not-quite-human entity wished to become a folk singer. A contemporary, experimental-electronic work with 11 instrumental pieces that reach toward song-like emotional directness without words. It sounds futuristic but perhaps also ancient.
Karel Naessens is a musician from Ghent, Belgium, who has played with the avant-pop band Peenoise for years. Recently, he lived in Copenhagen for two years to complete a Master’s at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC). During that time, he sought out mentorship from artists he admires, including Henriette Motzfeldt (Smerz), Rashad Becker and Giuseppe Ielasi. Apocalypse of Intimacy marks his first release as a solo artist.
