condition (disc/cover): NM / NM - Intérieur / Extérieur on Philips finds Pierre Henry mapping spatial coordinates, the inside and outside that every architecture defines. But Henry's interiors and exteriors aren't merely physical; they're psychological, spiritual, states of being as much as locations in space.
The CD arrives late in Henry's career, summarizing concerns he'd explored for decades. What does it mean to be inside a sound? How does listening position us relative to what we hear? These questions, philosophical in formulation, become visceral in Henry's treatment. Philips's release grants the work international distribution, introducing ears unfamiliar with French traditions to a master working at full capacity.
