Marcel Landowski, later the powerful director of music at the French ministry of culture, was a symphonist outside the avant-garde, close to Honegger. Two of his symphonies are coupled here, fifteen years apart: the first, Jean de la Peur, from 1949, and the third, Des Espaces, from 1964.
Charles Bruck conducts the Radio France philharmonic orchestra, with notes by Marcel Marnat. Issued by Philips in the Trésors Classiques series, in a die-cut gatefold sleeve.
