Two scores by Pierre Henry for the choreographer Maurice Béjart. Messe Pour Le Temps Présent, presented at the Avignon festival in 1967, adds electronic sounds and tape effects to short rock instrumentals arranged by Michel Colombier, and its opening Psyché Rock has since been sampled and remixed many times.
Le Voyage, from 1962, takes the opposite direction: a long, dark musique concrète work based on the passage through the after-death states described in the Tibetan Book of the Dead, made of feedback, slow drones and rubbed resonances. This is the 1987 Philips CD edition.
