First CD re-issue as a double-disc set on the superb and massive 1968 electronic oratorio in 5 parts.

condition (discs/cover): NM / NM  - Apocalypse De Jean spreads across two CDs on Philips, Pierre Henry's confrontation with the Book of Revelation. Saint John's visions of cosmic destruction and renewal provided material that Henry had been circling his entire career. Here he finally tackles the source directly, without mediation.

The double-CD format permits duration appropriate to apocalyptic subject matter. These aren't visions to be glimpsed briefly; they demand immersion, submission to a temporality that exceeds normal concert experience. Henry constructs sonic equivalents for seals breaking, trumpets sounding, beasts emerging from the sea. Whether the result counts as sacred music or its opposite remains deliberately unclear. The apocalypse destroys categories along with everything else.
