Original 1977 Dutch edition of hi-fi test album on Philips with a mix of classical and pop recordings of music by D-R-U-M, Randy Edelman, Letty De Jong, Paco De Lucía, Pepe Romero, Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Mahler and Ravel among others.

condition (record/cover): NM / EX

Gatefold sleeve with original innersleeve.

The Philips hi-fi demonstration LP for the dealer's floor: a fold-out sleeve, a programme of classical, pop, jazz and effects excerpts chosen to show off dynamic range, stereo width and bass extension, and a set of test signals for setting up the equipment the customer had just been talked into. Records like this were the unofficial soundtrack of the seventies audio shop, and Philips made theirs with more care than most.

For the listener now it is a mixtape assembled by engineers, which is its own kind of curation, and the effects tracks in particular are wonderfully strange out of context. Dutch Philips pressing, 6830 series.
