*300 copies limited edition. First ever reissue!!* A sought-after artifact from Japan’s private press underground, Appliqué captures the spirit of early ’70s Tokyo youth—hopeful, melodic, and steeped in harmony. Originally self-released in 1973, this four-track EP evokes the charm and complexity of Off Course’s earliest work, with soft psych textures and intimate songwriting throughout. Archived from the original master tapes by Kamurozaka Studio and remastered by five-time Grammy Award-winning engineer Michael Graves of Osiris Studio, this is the first-ever reissue of Appliqué, pressed in a limited edition of 300 on apple red vinyl. The release also includes new liner notes from the band and never-before-seen photos from their early days.
Appliqué was formed by a group of high school friends from Fukuoka who reunited in Tokyo during college. In a small apartment in Kichijōji, they shared records, wrote songs, and practiced harmonies late into the night. This EP was self-produced as a parting gift to mark their graduation. Now in their 70s, the members continue making music together as Satis, a production unit with over 200 original songs to their name
