After the release of the incredible beat'em up game "FRANKO - The Crazy Revenge", the creators of the Szczecin studio World Software released another video game for the Commodore Amiga that would become a cult: "DOMAN - Grzechy Ardana" (son of Ardan).
DOMAN is a side-scrolling hack and slash fighting game with a heroic fantasy theme in the style of Conan the Barbarian. In fact, the player took on the role of a muscular barbarian (Doman himself or his friend Baurus, or both, since it was possible to play in pairs). Traveling through a dark-fantasy scenario, you had to fight to defeat Ardan, the cruel ruler of a mythical land. The player had different weapons at his disposal along the way: swords, crossbows, halberds and even a Kalashnikov rifle (an easter egg that can only be activated with a code).
Doman was a cross between the most famous video games Barbarian, Rastan Saga and Golden Axe, but with a much higher dose of blood and brutality that made it unique: severed heads and limbs, hanging corpses, tortured bodies... rivers of blood flow throughout the game making everything very disturbing and splatter. There was an option to deactivate the "brutality" for a less "gore" experience.
Doman had very vivid and naive graphics, reminiscent of low-budget sword and sorcery films of the 80s. The enemies Doman encounters along the way have a very cool and bizarre look taken from all over the world of B-movies and pop culture: there were muscled Hulk Hogan-like fighters, brutal soldiers in unlikely Mad Max-style armor, green zombies with sticks, evil monks, grim hooded figures...
The game could be a bit repetitive, but the variety of environments, the absolutely kitsch graphic interludes and the brutal gameplay made it all a lot of fun!
The game was released in 1995 on five discs by Mirage. People who had an Amiga with much more RAM than the standard could enjoy better sound and additional power.
