Susumu Yokota
Susumu Yokota (1960-2015) was a Japanese producer and composer from Toyama who worked in house, acid techno, trance and ambient music. He gained attention in the early 1990s and became best known outside Japan for a run of quiet, sample-based ambient albums issued by The Leaf Label around the turn of the millennium, among them Sakura, Grinning Cat and The Boy and the Tree. Yokota studied economics and graphic design and worked as a designer in Tokyo before music.
