ecoegoe is an ensemble led by bassist, composer, and producer Mark Ibsgaard Gregersen. During early developments, he had experiences where acoustically made sounds would resemble digital samples, echoes, and compression. Or was it just an idea? Their sound is loud and intense while also containing the fragility and closeness of an interplaying acoustic ensemble. The septet consisting of saxophones, percussion, double bass and synthesizer explore sonic, rhythmic and structural inspirations from early minimalism, ambient music and electronic music’s analogue and digital productions. With this release, ecoegoe introduce a recorded ensemble sound characterized by analogue processing. An insisting use of digital sample technique and further production on the B-side results in an ambiguous music and an uncompromising broadness. When performing as a heavily amplified seven piece ensemble, additional live production and sound design expands their sonic dimension and enhances their defying of categories.
