"After two and a half years of refining, calibrating, and reconceptualising their approach, pianist Darius Heid, cellist Emily Wittbrodt, and double bassist Jonas Gerigk are now releasing their debut CD. With great enthusiasm, the trio met frequently for playful and dedicated rehearsals, improvising freely then observing and discussing the resulting phenomena, delving further into the depths of their music. A long and involved process - creating trialogues that weave through constant re-examination, arriving somewhere only to take off again in new directions. It goes without saying that these three musicians are highly skilled - how else could they achieve such elastically productive improvisation?

The coherently calibrated sound structures on this CD are enchantingly emotional, borne from a boundless curiosity which also transfers itself intuitively to the listener. Morton Feldman’s compositions and Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings come to mind – but perhaps the ever-changing structures of an ocean or the sounds and sights one takes in on a walk through the forest are more suitable images. The beauty of such natural phenomena, changing almost imperceptibly but for subtle surprises, sets the tone for this music with its steady sounds and flexibly focused accent shifts.
