According to legend, Orpheus was the son of Apollo, the Greek god of music. His father gave him a lyre and, from an early age, Orpheus played so well that he surpassed even his father's skill. It is said that when he played, the objects around him came to life, so enchanting was his music. Orfeu is the Portuguese translation of ‘Orpheus’, and is above all the intimate project of Alexandre Casato, who has been developing it in secret in his bedroom for several years... Alex is the guitarist behind a number of Noise-oriented rock projects in Lyon: Lesion Etrange / Tombouctou / Schleu / Torticoli...
Orfeu is an enchanting guitar/drum duo where the brilliant, demanding and colorful melodies of Alex's classical guitar are accompanied by the sober, serene drums of Clément Curaudeau (he also plays drums in Sürya or Sulphat'ketamine...). From Orfeu's debut album, wisps of touching melodies and benevolent, movingly generous tunes emerge. You enter a cocoon, it's cottony, there's the sound of illustrious ancestors, a little Cheval De Frise when it's not exploding, and a few swerves towards the only album by our talented Thomas Le Corre.
We also come across old movies, a certain nostalgia, the hats and horses of a bygone America, rock riffs and gentle, maternal ambiences that take you by the hand to help you grow and find your own path to freedom. The photo and artwork by ‘Bonjour vent’ are truly magnificent! I'm really proud to be part of this project.
