After its first release in 2023, the tiny big band Parasite Jazz brings its public iterations to fruition with “”, a testament to an alternate reality, matured voyaging across France over the span of four seasons. It sees the music flee through exuberant forests and steep troglodytes ; a parallel genre movie with a soundtrack of diluvian rhythms, mocking chants, jazz noir and voodoo accidents. In this shifting, autonomous world, the elastic orchestra—whose members keep on appearing and disappearing—plays for nocturnal secrets and feverish cavalcades.

Parasite Jazz presents its second effort: a collection of voyaging tracks that became emblematic of the trio composed of Tamara G., Théo D. and Alex L.’s live performances between 2023 and 2025. Invitees enriching these seminal tones were either sampled on the road or recorded later in memory of feverish evenings. Actually, it took a while to write a recorded album out of a lively, ever-changing experience. December 2024 saw a first pit-of-the-winter recording session happen in Auvergne where the only efficient heating system was the one of the studio, in presence of Valentin N. who brought his niche preamps and mics from Brussels on his Twingo. The result came in early as a copse of bare trees ready to bloom.

Spring properly sprung when Mars became a fourth member of the band. Rehearsal sessions gave birth to a new song and fresh green arrangements were recorded following that period in Marseille. Summer gave chance to the band to play as a fourtet and let those ideas root deeper. Summer mixing turning point occurred on top of a tower in the medieval city of Villefranche-de-Rouergue. All that light was about to flee through autumn and needed a precise picture, a definitive parti-pris. It took the next few months to receive more contributions, edit and finish those pages. But when the dark cold nights occurred again, the new road book was ready to see light. The band keeps on defining a sound that’s where itself never wanted to hide ; i.e. a jazz
