Panoramic Feelings resurfaces as a mega-rare Italian library masterpiece - Alessandro Alessandroni's 1971 Canopo opus blending psych, funk, lounge and bossa from the legendary whistler of spaghetti western fame.

Yellow Vinyl. Alessandro Alessandroni's Panoramic Feelings, originally released in 1971 by the great Italian Canopo label, is a mega-rare work of Italian library music containing psych, funk, lounge, and bossa tunes from Ennio Morricone's closest collaborator. This first-ever vinyl reissue presents one of the most sought-after artifacts from the golden age of Italian production music, finally available to contemporary listeners and collectors. Alessandroni, renowned worldwide as the distinctive whistler on Sergio Leone's legendary spaghetti westerns including The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars, and Once Upon a Time in the West, demonstrates here his remarkable versatility beyond soundtrack work. While his iconic whistle and twangy guitar riffs helped define the sound of an entire cinematic genre, Panoramic Feelings reveals the composer's mastery of sophisticated library music composition.

The album features contributions from I Cantori Moderni, the vocal ensemble founded by Alessandroni in 1961, which included soprano Edda Dell'Orso (Morricone's favorite female soloist) and his wife Giulia De Mutiis. The wordless chorus lines blend with cool keyboards, including wonderful electric harpsichord, creating sublime library music that came closest to the bossa and vocal styles of Ennio Morricone in the late 60s. Panoramic Feelings captures a unique moment in Italian music history when library music served as a laboratory for sonic experimentation. The music evokes a sense of melancholy for a lost Italy - innocent and hungry to grow, to have fun - with each instrumental track creating vivid cinematic scenes that unfold in the mind. From the sultry jazz-funk grooves to the ethereal bossa nova passages, the album demonstrates how functional music could transcend its commercial purpose to become pure art.

Alessandroni's multi-instrumental prowess - he played guitar, mandolin, mandolincello, sitar, accordion and piano - is evident throughout the album's twelve compositions. Each track serves as a sonic postcard from 1970s Italy, capturing the optimism and sophistication of an era when the country was experiencing unprecedented cultural and economic growth. The album stands as testament to the collaborative spirit that made Italian cinema and music so distinctive. Alessandroni's friendship with Ennio Morricone, dating back to childhood, fostered a creative partnership that would help revolutionize film music, but Panoramic Feelings shows how that innovative spirit extended into the realm of library music.
