Another fantastic not-on-the-album single from New Order. Their first after the Movement-era and still Martin Hannet on the production team. A-side shows some kind of post-movement sound, still fully capable to be a Joy Division song. Gloomy synhts by Gillian Gilbert, pretty fancy though. I kind of a like them. Perfect post-punk drumming from Morris again. Nice structure in the song and it's dominated by Peter Hook's growling, still melodic bass. The "b-side" (released in diverse track order just few months forward) "Evetything's gone Green" is the first real show of where New Order are supposed to go musically in the future. Still based on hook's bass but the pre-tecno drum machine's and simple synths makes this song the first sing of the later hit releases "Temptation" and "Blue Monday". Still it, maybe because of Hannet's producing work, kind of a brilliant post-joy division alternative sound. This must be a disaster for ultimate New Order collector, although it's only released as an 7" the sleeve desing colors makes this nasty. There are ten different (correct me if I'm wrong here) colors in the designer Savilles sleeves.
