One of the odder concept albums of the seventies: Franck Pourcel takes eighteenth-century themes, Bach, Handel, Mozart, and rebuilds them as pop, harpsichord and strings over drums and bass, a decade after Switched-On Bach and in the same season as Waldo de los Ríos's Mozart Symphony No. 40 was topping charts. Pourcel's classical training makes the difference; the counterpoint is respected even when the drummer is not.

The title ("Holidays in the Eighteenth Century") tells you the intended mood: baroque as a place to visit. For the musique légère completist, and for anyone tracking the baroque-pop fad that ran from Procol Harum to Wendy Carlos to this. EMI/Odeon, EOS prefix.
