lucky warehouse find, few copies available of this long out of print lp "For many, this is the definitive Lightning Bolt album. It's certainly an accessible release given some of the mayhem that came earlier in their back catalogue, yet somehow, despite sounding more tightly organised, and being structured around more conventional song frameworks the album manages to be heavier, focusing on riffs and dare I say it, actual hooks. Illustrative of that point, apparently Muse have been known to cover 'Dracula Mountain'. Blimey. Lightning Bolt are more than capable of dipping into the stadium rock vocabulary themselves, and on 'Longstockings' channel a galloping rhythm akin to some of Iron Maiden's classic material, starting out with Brian Chippendale's hallmark 'phoned-in' vocals, only to delve into an all-hell-breaks-loose finale that'll have the faint of heart running for cover. Awesome."
