*2024 stock* I recorded the sounds for this piece in March 2011 at the "Performance Arts Forum" in France. The PAF is housed in a former convent school, which was built at the end of the 19th Century in the village of St. Erme in Picardy. After the convent school and a hospital during World War I, various temporary uses and a long term of vacancy, the PAF was founded in 2006 as a workplace for artists.
During my three-week stay, I kept sneaking through the 6.400 m2 building: From the attic to th…

"Every sound you will hear on this album has been recorded by me since 1994 in different parts of the world. On top of these sounds, their melodies and rhythms grow the compositions you will hear. Some of the pieces have a collaborator that integrates with the sounds in different ways. Since I was a little boy, I always found music everywhere. I remember listening to the engine of my mother's car and finding incredible rhythms there. I've always thought that every sound we hear can be made into …
*200 copies limited edition* Nestled at the center of Natalia Beylis’ music is an intertwined practice of listening and creating. She regularly foregrounds both field recordings and found instruments, building worlds around the curious sounds she comes upon and letting the process of recontextualization create meaning out of unexpected meetings. The picture that emerges is one of her having a profound connection to her environment, whether that is a community of human beings or the vast non-huma…
The explorer Walter Maioli makes his most amazing adventure, the journey to the center of the Earth. Retracing the exploits of the Platonic demiurge, he identifies in the cave the deepest meaning of myth. Primordial sounds, not shadows, are at the center of this magical path straddling geology and Paleolithic polyphony. The recordings between 1985 and 2002 capture the sonic imperceptibility of the great subterranean womb, investigate the secret dialogue between the trickling of pond waters and t…
*2024 stock. Custom CDr* Did you know that the ionosphere makes noise? Or that that noise is actually possible to record? This recording shows that the ionosphere, part of the upper atmosphere that is ionized by solar radiation, can indeed be recorded. Here you have the opportunity to listen to the electrical static in stereo synchronized from recordings made at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC and at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Incidentally, this is a Cook classic…
*2024 stock. Custom CDr* How do people pray around the world? On this album, Richard Kostelanetz recorded ministers and religious leaders from diverse religious backgrounds to further explore “those qualities that make all prayers sound like prayers, regardless of differences in language.” The album contains prayers in German, French, Polish, and Persian, as well as Latin, English, Spanish, and Turkish. The recordings are layered, with prayers occurring in multiple languages at once. In this con…
"During the 22nd of February 2022, two years after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we took audio snippets from our everyday lives documenting our homes and surrounding urban environments, our intellectual interests and our musical tastes. We also gathered pictures with our phones. Some of the audio sources were processed, some were not. Here you get slices of our lives from two different cities, New York and Berlin – a glimpse of the fragmentation of our times through a broken sonic diar…
*2024 stock. 170 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "The genesis of this project is a conversation between Bruno and David about making music in current times of social and environmental crisis. This dialogue prompted an exchange of recordings, found sounds and other sonic material, advancing two pieces. Artistically, Bruno perceives himself as a pessimist acknowledging the presence of this thinking in his abundant music production, which is mainly collaborative. However, David perceives Br…
2024 stock. Sun Soon is Espen Friberg´s solo album debut, consisting of eleven compositions made up of synthesizer and field recordings. The recording is done at Leveld Kunstnartun in Ål in Hallingdal, later mixed and produced in collaboration with Jenny Berger Myhre. The project captures the ambiance in the valley around Leveld, through Espen´s experiences in nature, but also from the paintings of Marianne Røthe Arnesen and Gøsta Munsterhjelm.Sun Soon is formed as a collage, with compositions p…
*2024 stock. 180 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "Noise pollution? Maybe. To me, it’s a location that sounds like any other in its natural state: the city sounds like the city; the forest sounds like the forest. That said, this album is about being grateful for having paths that easily lead me away from the din, out of my own head, and into the forest around Kasuga and Omiwa shrines, down anonymous gravel paths, narrow backstreets, along verdant rice fields and small rivers. This is wher…
*2024 stock. 170 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "Faux naturel is a soundscape composition that intends to give an aural and musical expression to the idea of non-scission between man and nature, between the so-called artificial sound environments and natural sound environments. It also intends to represent a musical expression guided by the principles of ambiguity and the dilution of the boundaries between the natural and the artificial, between the acoustic and electroacoustic planes. …
*2024 stock. 170 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "The Port of Cork moves between sleeping and waking. In the Winter months, the large warehouse is empty. Traces, remnants, and memories of a place that was a busy marketplace just months prior. I move silently in the dark, damp metallic shell of this dormancy, listening to the walls, the contours, the reverberations of the greater environment, the last open café whose music drifts into my field of sensation. The place’s sleep becomes alive…
*2024 stock. 165 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "Making a work such as this poses a seemingly simple question: how is it possible to describe a space through the sounds we collect or borrow from it? In the case of the storm water drain known as Bell Stairs, the running water, traffic noise, and other sounds we found within, only convey the smallest amount of what it is like to navigate this long, narrow, concrete tunnel. Despite our reliance upon the language of the hunter, it is highly…
*2024 stock. 165 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* The sound piece Nox (in addition to reflecting the traditional nocturnal effluvia specific to the title) is based on the multiple meanings and interpretations that can be made of the incomplete form of the dactylic hexameter and palindrome In girum imus nocte ecce et consumimur igni. This Latin phrase, pictorial and poetic, most often attributed to Virgil, refers to the moths that circle around the candle before burning themselves, and whi…
*2024 stock. 170 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "Urgency ! there is an urgency !! obviously there’s an urgency in this piece !!! Nothing sets in. Or at least the few trying seems quickly stripped of, replaced, torn, abolished…urgency as answer to other urgencies. The one of this exactly seven days residency to rub with the Amazon rainforest. What a funny idea will you tell : only coming seven days in this vastness, where we should better have stayed 7 weeks, 7 months, or even 7 years… B…
*2024 stock. 170 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "Minato" is a soundscape work based on field recordings around Yokohama Port. In 1630’s, Japan started the trade policy called "Sakoku (鎖国)" that cuts off diplomacy except for a few countries. The policy ended in 1853 and Japan opened 5 ports including Yokohama Port in 1859. Yokohama Port is now one of the biggest maritime terminals in Japan, and it has been working for the moving and the logistics between Japan and foreign countries for a…
*2024 stock. 170 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "This work deals with an area that I have travelled daily for the last years. A continuum between a train and subway terminals linked and a third train station, located fifteen blocks away with which they connect through a semi-empty landscape of workshops, barracks and the remains of an old station, in the middle of the city. The main train station functions primarily as a commuter rail station with several hallways leading to other train…
*2024 stock. 170 (hand-numbered) copies limited edition* "The recording locations of this work are Nakanoshima Park, Tenjinbashi, Sakuranomiya Park in Osaka, Japan. There are rows of cherry trees, rivers, ponds, lotus flowers on swamps, boat dock, railroads, and small forests. I visit this place often. The expression is rich depending on the season. It was a very hot summer day in August 2020. I brought in a small recording set (digital recorder, tape recorder, etc.) and worked on the go. There …
