Axel Dörner
Axel Dörner is a German trumpeter, pianist and composer, born in Cologne in 1964 and based in Berlin since 1994. He works in free improvisation and jazz, with a trumpet language that mixes breath, air sounds and very small noises with conventionally played notes, largely through techniques he developed himself. Axel Dörner received the SWR Jazz Prize in 2006. Axel Dörner studied piano in Arnhem and at the music academy in Cologne, and began trumpet studies with Malte Burba in 1991.
