Mark Sanders

Mark Sanders is a British drummer and percussionist who works mainly in free jazz and free improvisation. He came to it through many other styles, and Evan Parker, a guest in a concert series Sanders ran with Phil Durrant, asked him to play soon afterwards. With bassist John Edwards he forms a rhythm section heard since the late 1990s under many leaders, Parker included, and in trio with Veryan Weston. He has played with Paul Dunmall, the London Improvisers Orchestra and Jah Wobble, works in theatre, dance and contemporary music, and teaches jazz at Leeds Conservatoire.
