Founded in Southport in the North West of England in 1979, Bourbonese Qualk operated on the experimental fringes. Their early output merged primitive industrial forays with oblique social commentary, while later albums took in everything from EBM and dub to experimental jazz and gamelan. Julian Gilbert left the group after ‘The Spike'(1986) to concentrate on writing and theatre, leaving Steven Tanza and Simon Crab who parted ways after touring in Europe in early 1986 and recording this album.
