Colin Andrew Sheffield

Colin Andrew Sheffield is an American sound artist and curator, born in El Paso, Texas, in 1976. He founded the Elevator Bath label in 1998. His music is made by re-contextualizing commercial recordings: he takes very short excerpts and stretches, compresses, layers and processes them into slow atmospheric pieces that sit between ambient electronic music and plunderphonic collage. Colin Andrew Sheffield began as a self-taught drummer in Texas before turning fully to electronic music. He lived for several years in the Seattle area and later returned to Texas.
