Two brothers from Rome who scored over a hundred films and spent the seventies writing music that most of Europe can still hum without knowing who wrote it. The Bud Spencer and Terence Hill comedies are the obvious ones, but the same pair also handled poliziotteschi, westerns and television, moving between orchestral arrangements, funk rhythm sections and early synthesizers with no apparent effort. Under the name Oliver Onions they put their own voices on the records and had hits across the continent. For years the film work was dismissed as commercial craft; the reissues of the last decade have made it clear that the craft was the point, and that very few people in Italy could do what these two did in a week.
