Hans Reichel

Born in Hagen in 1949, Hans Reichel was a composer, improviser, and experimental luthier among the most radical of the 20th century. A central figure of the German avant-garde alongside Peter Brötzmann and Peter Kowald, he redefined the language of the guitar through self-built instruments and entirely new techniques. Inventor of the Daxophone, he released his body of work primarily on FMP. He passed away in Wuppertal in 2011.
