Himukalt

Himukalt is the noise project of Ester Kärkkäinen, an artist working in Nevada. Largely self-taught in electronic music and drawn early on to industrial acts such as SPK, Throbbing Gristle and Whitehouse, she builds her pieces from cut and reassembled electronics and voice buried under distortion and delay. Her themes are the body, desire, rage and mental health, and photocopied black and white images of the female body, often her own, are part of the work. Early releases include Conditions of Acrimony and the tape Vulgar, distributed by No Rent.
