Incapacitants

Incapacitants are a Japanese noise music group formed in 1981. It consists of Toshiji Mikawa and Fumio Kosakai, whose stated aim is to produce "pure" noise, uninfluenced by musical ideas or even human intention, using primarily feedback, vocals, and various electronics. The group was formed in 1981 in Osaka, Japan, as the solo project of Mikawa, a member of the noise improv group Hijokaidan. Mikawa, a bank employee, later moved to Tokyo, where he joined with government office worker Kosakai (also an occasional member of Hijokaidan, as well as a former member of C.C.C.C.) to make Incapacitants a duo.

Tip! *199 copies limited edition* Emerging from the vibrant tapestry of Japan's experimental music scene in the late '80s, Incapacitants had beginnings as Toshiji Mikawa's solo project in 1981. The original epicenter of their creative endeavors was Osaka, where Mikawa collaborated with luminaries such as Yamatsuka Eye, JOJO and others. However, the trajectory of Incapacitants evolved with a move to Tokyo, where Fumio Kosakai joined forces with Mikawa, solidifying the current duo that continues t…
Repo
** Released in a beautiful limited edition of 300 copies, fully remastered for this vinyl edition by Lasse Marhaug ** The roots of noise can be traced back to the experimental works of composers like Luigi Russolo, who in the early 20th century introduced the concept of noise machines or "Intonarumori" and advocated for the inclusion of industrial and mechanical sounds in music. This laid the foundation for the exploration of unconventional and non-musical sounds as viable artistic expressions. …

Tip! *2023 repress. Real time professionally duplicated tapes.* “What can possibly be said about these two legendary groups that hasn’t been said already? Ironically, when this split cassette tape was originally released in 1985 on Alchemy Records, both Hijokaidan and Incapacitants were just starting to share their own voices with the unassuming outside world, crystallizing a sound that displayed an immense power, but would also continue to morph throughout the years up to the present time. True…
Incapacitants / Savage Gospel

As Loud As Possible
Tip! CD Edition, 8-panel digipak. The mid-90s were particularly abundant years for harsh noise, producing many albums which are now considered masterpieces. One of the most beloved classics from this period is "As Loud As Possible" by Incapacitants. Active since 1981, the duo of Toshiji Mikawa and Fumio Kosakai found their stride in the early 90s and set off on an unrelenting course which produced countless gems of noise. Many of these have been well preserved and documented elsewhere, compiled …

This long out of print and sought after material is finally available to the public once again, newly remastered from the original DAT recording (which Mr. Mikawa had to graciously dig for) complete with a layout design true to the simplicity and color scheme of the original.
