Jim Haynes

Jim Haynes is a sound artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area who came to sound from the visual arts. His work starts from decay and corrosion (he sums it up as "I rust things") and uses broken electronics, shortwave static, contact microphones, tape decay, controlled feedback and processed field recordings. He is the sole occupant of The Helen Scarsdale Agency, the label that publishes much of his work. Haynes is also a director of the non-profit sound art organisation 23five Incorporated, and has released work on Intransitive, Observatoire and Elevator Bath.
