Motoharu Yoshizawa
Motoharu Yoshizawa was a Japanese bassist and composer who played free jazz and free improvisation from the mid-1960s. He developed a practice of solo bass and later used a five-string bass of his own design, the Tiritack, sometimes with electronics, alongside a wide circle of Japanese and European improvisers. Yoshizawa played with Yosuke Yamashita and Kazunori Takeda in the mid-1960s and in 1969 recorded Independence with Masayuki Takayanagi's New Directions. His solo bass albums of the mid-1970s include Inland Fish, The Cracked Mirror and the Fossil Bird and Outfit.
