Stefan Thut

Stefan Thut is a Swiss composer and cellist, born in 1968 and based in Solothurn. He trained at the Lucerne Conservatory and at Boston University School of Music. A member of the Wandelweiser group, he writes open, process-based scores that often set everyday objects, paper, cardboard and field recordings beside conventional instruments, and most of them are meant to be realised by other performers. Thut's scores are published by Edition Wandelweiser and have been realised at Kunstraum Düsseldorf (2007), at Kid Ailack in Tokyo and at Diapason Gallery in New York (2010).
