Valerio Tricoli, born in Palermo in 1977 and based in Munich, is a composer of electroacoustic music and a radical improviser on analogue instruments, considered one of the key figures of the Italian new wave of experimental music. His central tool is the Revox reel-to-reel tape machine, which he plays live, recording, cutting and playing back sound in real time to build dense, dramatic, almost narrative pieces. He was a founding member of the avant-rock group 3/4HadBeenEliminated and of the Bowindo collective, and has worked extensively with Thomas Ankersmit, Antoine Chessex, Werner Dafeldecker and Anthony Pateras.
