William Hooker

William Hooker is an American drummer and composer from New Britain, Connecticut, based in New York since the mid-1970s. He came through the loft jazz scene alongside David Murray and David S. Ware and has worked in free jazz and avant-garde music ever since, often leading groups without a bass player and recording duos with guitarists such as Thurston Moore and Elliott Sharp. Hooker made his first record as a leader, ...Is Eternal Life, on Reality Unit Concepts, followed by Brighter Lights (1986) and Lifeline (Silkheart, 1988). In 1993 he released Shamballa, duets with Moore and Sharp.
