Just arrived, beautiful solo album for the Presto records label's owner...Produced, edited, mixed by Lorenzo Senni and mastered by Marcus Schmickler, "Dunno" is the very first official release from the 27years old italian founder of Presto!?; his previous release "Early works" (2007) is a collection of old re-edited tracks mainly influenced by early laptop heroes Mego style. Now with "Dunno" we have a pure computer music record where digital psychedelia meets brutal pulasr synthesis trains …
restocked: Analogue synth and field recordings, re-played through CDJs. Starting out as an improvising guitarist in the late 1980s, Giuseppe Ielasi's current work is mainly studio-based compositions utilising records and CDs, and creating pieces for theatre and film. His solo shows, which take the form of multichannel diffusion and recomposition of pre-existing pieces and fragments, create complex site specific audio works. He also plays in Bellows (with Nicola Ratti) and Oreledigneur (wi…
AWSOME!! The Time Machine project was conceived in order to find a simple and immediate way to work with rhythm. I built two cheap and imprecise, almost-square wave oscillators with a wide range of frequencies. These oscillators can sweep and cross-modulate from rare pulse to high audio signals. I use a mixer to create feedback between the filters, CV and audio signals and simply record the output; there are no overdubs.' Renato Rinaldi studied drama, composition and electronic music. Afte…
New from the ever-essential Tapeworm series, this release is by Californian sound artist Zachary James Watkins, whose CV reveals a seasoned background in composition that boasts multiple degrees, awards and commissions. Black Spirituals was recorded last year, arising from Watkins' "intense dialogue" with fellow artist Morgan Craft - comparatively little else is revealed in terms of the genesis of these four pieces, although Watkins cites the use of a dusty tape recording of a late 1970s lecture…
Top flight three man cosmic research team further investigations on galactic flux and refraction with two transmissions of synesthetic mind-fold. Lift off with skyward string stasis cutting through buffeted drum-clouds and synthesiser atmosphere, cosmic forever vision peaks at warp-speed rocket drone, anti-gravity percussion accents and star scraping rainbow universes. Saturating feedback zones spread webs of dimension amidst asteroid belt orbits, where two-way trips initiate zero g shimm…
Jawdropping new collection of crop circles etched in sonic candy-floss by New Zealand’s beardsmith / noise-farmer Campbell Kneale. Rated by the horses mouth as the best thing he ever made, EVER, ‘Blue Eyes Are My Reward’ shimmers like an icicle-clad forest resplendent in its own crystalline magnificence. Snakecharming groove, dublike boomph, and bleary eyed strum blast the path out of a decidedly greying world of so-so metalized myspace drone, into a miniaturized drone-prairie of superpow…
Just Arrived: Philip Jeck makes geniunely moving and transfixing music, where we hear the art not the gimmick. Philip Jeck writes: A version of An ark for the listener was first performed at Kings Place London on 24/02/2010. It is a meditation on verse 33 of The Wreck of the Deutchsland, Gerard Manley Hopkins poem about the drowning on December 7th 1875 of five Franciscan nuns exiled from Germany. This CD version was recorded at home in Liverpool and used extracts from live performances ov…
Distorted digital sound with interesting sides of matter. Borghi gets the electro-acoustic music out of quicksand showing an hot and dark way to escape. Made using custom max/msp applications, analog effects and varied sound sources. Great first work! "Andrea Borghi’s solo album is ultimately more rewarding for its (relative) sparseness, with some unspectacular but extremely effective laptop treatments adding some fizz to his thrummed fuzz bass jams. It’s still a case of listenin…
Second album after well acclaimed Xax, Tropico is the proof of Vipcancro’s ability to make trips over the edges of industrial-drone-noise exploring several aspects of contemporary music too. Maybe avant or maybe impro, amazing music of course!
Lucky find, long out of print: No Fun Productions present an unearthed pairing of archive recordings from avant-garde polymath Jim O' Rourke, who's at his most ferocious on these recordings. From a title like '6 Oscillators '87' you figure the piece could go one of two ways: warm, disciplined Eliane Radigue-type drone or flailing chaos. Jim goes for the latter option, rattling through a host of pitch modulations and noise assaults, working his way through a sophisticated noise composition that a…
Raster Noton's rhythmic auteur, Frank Bretschneider, presents his first album in three years, a "music-visual project based on the idea that fine art should attain the abstract purity of music". 'EXP' is an attempt to assimilate the qualities of music, namely rhythm, movement, tempo, mood, intensity and compositional structure within the visual aspect. The music for the project is arranged from an array of generated and selected waveforms sourced from pure electricity, magnetism, light an…
Schnitzler’s Zug is one of the most important and first electronic minimalist works that were published in the 70s. Almost simultaneously with Kraftwerk’s groundbreaking “Autobahn” Zug appeared on the legendary “the red cassette“. The release is rounded off with a remix of Con-Fan Stefan Betke aka Pole. Pole and Kassian Troyer (Radian) have mastered the record. Another remix is contributed by “borngräber and strüver“.
Two of the most distinctive presences in German experimental music unite for this stunning new collaborative venture, introducing the project with a five-track 12" that precedes a full-length due later on in the year. As it turns out, these two seemingly strange bedfellows have long admired one another's work and the project has itself been a long-term concern, in development since 2007. Bargeld lends his vocal to Nicolai's soundscapes, a formula that in theory might lead to an end prod…
Amazing!! There is a murder in the beach. Ducktails arrives in his spaceship escalade to investigate the scene. Dracula Lewis is the principal suspect. They become best friends and decide to work on a split LP. When a vampire kills a body is never found. At the same time beautiful and terrifying cavern drone sounds from Dracula Lewis, Psychedelic spiraling melodies and electronics beats from Ducktails. Both investigate the limits of the space time continuum. This is the new dawn of expansi…

Documents the collaboration between CHRISTIAN FENNESZ, DAVID DANIELL & TONY BUCK for the 2009 Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN. Minimalist drum passages scatter over the top of textured layers of guitar & subsumed melodic sequences, eventually giving way to warm beds of evolving, tactile drones. Sonic rain showers roll into full-blown thunderstorms of effected guitar & pounding drums only to yield a field of shattered electronic & percussive debris
Taking inspiration from early music concrete and electronic music, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Nuno Canavarro, Raymond Scott, David Behrman, and free improvisation, Old Punch Card is a beautifully noisy, jagged, yet stately album of synthesizer music. The ideas and implementation of Old Punch Card (the album title alluding to the electronic, faintly mechanic origins of the music) were the result of an entirely new challenge: to do something completely different from anything else he's…
