Recorded in Athens in July 2014, the second album by 300 Basses extends the trio's move from free improvisation toward fixed composition. The investigation here turns on minimal but precisely framed actions: the beating patterns generated by long tones at slightly detuned pitches, the unstable timbre that emerges when reed sustains are layered with bowed cymbal, the slow permutation of a reduced interval set. A sound world built from infinitesimal elements, dense in vibration and microvariation.

300 Basses exists since 2010, and has performed until now at Cave 12 Geneva, Les Ateliers Claus Bruxelles, Galleria O’ Milano, Labor Sonor Berlin and other venues in France, Italy and Switzerland. Initially they were playing free improvised music, then they began to organize their sound materials into fixed compositions. In 2012 they released their first CD ‘Sei Ritornelli’, on Potlatch label.
Tria Atoma’ goes further than the previous album in the exploration of sound configurations achieved by means of simple but clearly focused actions and gestures: the beatings produced by the long tones of instruments with slight differences in tuning; the unexpected sound texture produced by the superimposition of the sound of the reeds with the one of a bowed cymbal; the slow permutations of a minimal sequence of intervals. A sound world made up of infinitesimal elements, and yet rich of activity, vibration, and nuances. Recorded late July 2014 in Athens (GR) at Sofokleus 33.
