Paul Panhuysen (1934 to 2015) was a Dutch composer and visual and sound artist. In Eindhoven he founded and directed Het Apollohuis, one of the most important European spaces for sound installation, sound sculpture and concerts of free improvisation, experimental and electronic music through the 1980s and 1990s, a meeting point for artists from all over the world. His best known works are the Long String Installations, in which long wires cross a space in different patterns and are set ringing by fingers coated in rosin, drawn along them like a bow.
