Danish String Quartet
The Danish String Quartet is a string quartet from Copenhagen. Three of its members met as children at a music summer camp and started the group as teenagers while studying at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, with a debut in 2002. The quartet pairs the classical repertoire with Nordic folk tunes in its own arrangements and is best known for its Prism series on ECM. The line-up is Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen and Frederik Øland (violins), Asbjørn Nørgaard (viola) and Fredrik Schøyen Sjölin (cello), who joined in 2008.
