Duos is a 10" EP of short, explosive improv pieces by FAT bassist Jeff Noble and guitarist Eric Rosenzveig. Recording took place in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, in 1990, around the period of FAT's stay in Prague after the group's most intense period of touring. Recorded straight to tape with no overdubs, the EP is pure improv but creates a world of sound outside of normal musical experiment. The instrumentation is unadorned, with no effects beyond overdrive pedals on both bass and guitar; both inst…
Reissue of an obscure Early 90s album, Citron is a complete remix of the Czech heavy metal band Citron's 1990 release Vypustte psy!, or Release the Dogs. While spending an extended period in the Ostrava studio of Citron's leader Radim Parízek, FAT found itself with access to the original 24-track tapes of Citron's then-most-recent album. Working at night, FAT discreetly remixed the entire album to create Citron. Citron is a far cry from the original record's heavy metal sound, as FAT creates a b…
Ted Lucas, the sole published album by singer-songwriter and master guitarist Ted Lucas has achieved an almost mystical reputation amongst aficionados and collectors. Ted Lucas is a seamless marriage of moody odes and raga-style instrumentals regarded by many to be, simply put, the greatest private press folk/psych album ever recorded. Lucas was a fixture in the Detroit rock scene of the sixties and seventies. His first band, The Spike Drivers, relocated to San Francisco to become one of the ver…
After more then 20 years on the Viennese music map, Polwechsel could be easily considered as legendary, no matter of which constellation of the band the word is. Currently consisting of Werner Dafeldecker (Double-Bass), Michael Moser (Cello), Martin Brandlmayr and Burkhard Beins (Percussion), hey always explored the borders between structured compositions and their improvisational aspects. Hectic nature of their recent pieces, amplified through overall brilliant dynamic range, shows further st…
"I realized at the end of the album that I didn’t want to express, I just wanted to explore.” Ian Wiliam Craig is a trained opera singer and painter out of Vancouver, Canada. Over the last few years he has proved to be one of the most original artists active in the ambient / experimental genre. His debut "A Turn Of Breath" (2014) and the follow-up album “Cradle For The Wanting” (2015) received high acclaim across the globe. Meaning Turns to Whispers is a combination of piano improvisations and F…

Pigeons have shifted into more dense, heady modes for their new record, They Sweetheartstammers. Heavy doses of melody and dissonance dip into Broadcast & Meddle-era Pink Floyd territory, as well as more straightforward nods to Opal's Happy Nightmare Baby, Galaxie 500 and Brigitte Fontaine. Pigeons are also now a four piece featuring Jason Meagher (No Neck Blues Band) on bass and Nathan Bowles (Black Twig Pickers, Pelt) on drums
More catchy than Dlin Dlon Cowboy. The Vitamin B12's music maintains an ingenious home-made sound in a refined bric-a-brac of experimental sound explorations, adventurous and successful juxtapositions and playful melodies and structures. This set presents 24 kaleidoscopic miniatures, like the images which adorn the cover, assembled with amazingly gracious do-it-yourself pop sensibility, groovy lounge tendencies and a passionate curiosity for noise and sound modification. The history of The Vitam…

All the artists taking part in this collection come from the italian land and entered the label network thanks to the mind-altering Communion happenings in the freed spaces of Macao, Milan. In this happenings lot of ideas where shown and some new others came to life, both in musical production and life organization processes. A new kind of way of looking at the world seemed to emerge in this gatherings, we can say that it is based on a renewed version of what we usually call "psychedelia". “Psyc…
**edition of 300, 180gr. vinyl, hand-assembled** Recorded especially for Preserved Sound in Hebden Bridge, Arrow is sound of Richard Youngs alone at the piano, embellished with sparse drums and an old organ. This collection of solo improvisations is all about capturing the moment – that piano and that afternoon in Hebden Bridge.“I sat down at the piano and just played,” says Richard. “No preconceptions, nothing worked out. I wasn't trying to achieve anything other than to enjoy playing the pia…
Even though Warmth main man Steev Thompson still appears to be incommunicado, totally epic recordings continue to surface. Before Roxanne Jean Polise was officially over and Steev still lived in Chicago, he joined up with another then-Chicago resident Branden Diven of Quilts/American Grizzly Records. The jams that were created filled a couple of CD-Rs and the Warmth side of the split with Quintana Roo on Not Not Fun. This LP consists of a remixed and edited version of the original CD-R running a…
Alienated voices. Crackling noises. Abstract sounds of unidentifiable origins … these are just some of the sources that Zorka Wollny, visual artist / composer from Krakow (whose work a.o. has been presented at CTM Berlin or ICI London), and her Austrian partner Christine Schörkhuber - freelance sound artist, video maker and musician with residencies in St. Petersburg, Copenhagen, Valparaíso, Buenos Aires a.o. – apply to create seven acoustic miniatures that are based on and inspired by paintings…
Hey kid, need a lift? Like, right up off the ground? Spill into Atmosphere is the freshest whitecap in the crashing-upward wave known as Wet Hair, the Midwestern duo-cum-trio that’s been holding it down for years as a multi-stop repeat-shop-’n-hop psych-pop pin-drop right there in the dead center of everything and/or nothing, Iowa City. The Wet Hair discography having spired itself to a respectable vantage – shared releases with such powers as Rene Hell, Naked on the Vague and Peaking Lights, bo…
Sofa has been following Vilde&Inga since they started playing together back in 2010 and when they contacted us with the music from Silfr, there was no doubt in our minds. On Silfr they continue to develop the remarkable interplay from their first album, Makrofauna (ECM), but this time they turn the level up a couple of notches. On Silfr Vilde&Inga presents chamber music of international caliber. Each piece on the album dives into a microclimate which eventually reveals small musical pearls. The …
Now Voks is finally presenting his first full-length album (though only 30 minutes long this is epic in Voks' universe - both 3"CD's included 10 tracks each within 20 minutes). While keeping his trademark style of hyperactive and nervous high-pitched twisted pop songs a newborn interest in (italo-western) movie soundtracks seems to be evident. The sound of super fast surf guitars is colliding with what seems chinese opera samples, world music is combined with children's whisteling tunes. Think R…
Finally restocked: Tsembla's outstanding faux-gamelan and homemade ethnodelic fantasies from Finland’s Ikuisuus label "The cicadas rub their legs, singing as if sucking on inhalators, when past the great willows I see a dam resting deep in the shelter of the trees. The shadow of the dam, a dark cloak glowing green, spreads over the branches of the trees and far across the grass, transforming the yard beyond the road’s edge into an odd province ruled by frogs and mosquitoes that gradually slides …
Limited edition 45 RPM 12” of Alex Turnquist’s not-like-anyone-else guitar stylings, with 5 tracks using only plucked harmonics on his 12 string guitar. Using this limited palate of sounds, Turnquist crafts sparkling waves of notes, employing the minimalist sensibilities that have informed his more recent work (e.g. his 2011 VHF LP/CD release Hallway of Mirrors) on a smaller scale. The harmonics here are frequently struck hard and in complex patterns - this is arguably “new age” but not drifty-a…
Technical drawings is melissa st. pierre (prepared piano) and jesse stiles (electronics). in their debut release the ruined map, they pioneer a new genre that has been termed dub concrete, combining influences from neoclassicism, rock, gamelan, and hip hop with results both weird and electrifying. in one of the record's centerpieces, strange flora, the post-rap poet todd jones verbalizes the musical journey: we found an island on the edge of the world. with no name for it we made a claim for it.…
restocked!! Michigan trio Wolf Eyes are known for bursts of harsh noise, but they've also made lots of interesting music on the way to those climaxes-- during the pregnant pauses, eerie bits of calm, and gradual build-ups that explode into raucous release. Stare Case, the "blues roots" duo of Wolf Eyes' John Olson and Nate Young, deal primarily in that restrained territory, where minimalism and quietude bulge with possibility. On Lose Today, the implied eruptions never come, but always seem to b…
