An inevitable and sensible split release between two of today's most unconventional projects, both consistently pushing the boundaries of contemporary Harsh Noise by fearlessly incorporating limitless experimentation drawn from tried-and-true tape music techniques, as well as aspects of electroacoustic and free improv. Both artists have a tendency to collect seemingly random and bizarre sources that are then crammed together into an elaborate found sound collage akin to a sonic puzzle. Each part …
Lo-fi wall noise muck from the mind of Canadian artist Barrett E. Lediard (Toanche Dwelling, Rotmans, Vast Field Magnetism, etc). Hack Conduit is the epitome of terms like "muddy" and "blown out", recorded straight to tape and sent directly to AAD headquarters on said tape in order to capture both tracks in all their filthy hiss-ridden authentic glory.3" disc with printed label & 3 panel cover art housed in polycase.
AAD warmly welcomes Tim Olive to the family. Canadian born but residing in Japan for many years, TO has been involved in experimental music spanning more than two decades and has collaborated with dozens of great international artists and labels alike. Armed with a minimal setup of metallic pickups, springs and scrap metal, TO has mastered his sound by amplifying acoustic objects that are then played like a free jazz musician tinkering with a pile of broken guitars.
AAD proudly presents "Carefully Upon This Hour", the follow up to muttering's 2022 cassette "Iron Angel, Please Keep Quiet". Subdued amp buzz and clattering acoustic objects echo in the distance of what sounds like a large decrepit room, gradually building up into a roaring thunderous mess of twisted scrap metal and feedback that abruptly submits to quieter reverberations...only to be disrupted with one last blast of abrasive rumbling junk noise.
At last, the debut full length CD by New Grasping Machina! This project has made quite a name for itself in recent years and should be familiar to most noise heads at this point, due to being so tirelessly active both live and recording wise. Luk Henderiks is an actual singer-songwriter in various actual bands playing actual music...however, the enthusiasm and consistent focus Luk puts into NGM makes it obvious this is also a big priority, as well as operations of their DIY-style CDr imprint Mec…
Prolepsis has been one of contemporary Harsh Noise's best kept secrets for the past couple of years, although i've done my best to put people on to the project, which is not easy considering their minimal online presence and short list of physical only self-released titles (that honestly tend to outshine a vast majority of hyped releases by more well known artists).
Until now this Michigan-based project has only been featured on AAD's "Life is Fucking Stupendous!" compilation, but the brief soni…
Wow, this is unreal -- the first full length album by Slacking on AAD? What a privilege to do this landmark release, which will surely be looked back on years from now as a crowning achievement for the label, in the same way that Creation Records must feel about being the one to have put out "Loveless". From the first time i heard this project i was stoked in a way i hadn't been since first discovering Harsh Noise. It was immediately apparent that i was to be in total support of this project as …
CD reissue of one of my personal favorite releases in the Macro discography. Lovingly ripped directly from my own copy of the cassette version released in 1995, and remastered in house. This release deserves the reissue treatment because it is easily some of the best material to come from the original duo of Joe Roemer and Rodger Stella...perfectly capturing the 90's Americanoise sound at it's raunchiest. It's an honor to be able to put "The Spectacle of Ravishing Our Maidens" back in circulatio…
CD reissue of material that was released on cassette in 1998 and suspended in decades of obscurity, which is a shame because this is arguably some of the most underrated and brutal material ever produced by the project...a true deep cut and essential release for fans of not just Government Alpha but Harsh Noise in general.
AAD is proud to present Slit Throats first official full length CD since 2020's epic "Joshi Noise Worship: Women's Most Violent" released by Phage Tapes.
In the past I have stated that I do not release Power Electronics, but that claim is now shattered after discovering Parassitismo, a duo hailing from Genova, Italy that creates some of the best oldschool P.E. I've come across...granted I'm no expert on the genre, I just know I really like this album and wanted to get it back in circulation ASAP on a physical format worthy of it's excellence. This is cold, filthy, lo-fi Industrial murk that incorporates rhythmic noise, processed dialogue, analog …
In the early 2000s there were several great (now classic) Evenings releases on labels like Chondritic Sound, Ekhein, Monorail Trespassing and his own Tapeworm Tapes imprint...these have been my go-to late night listening for the past decade. With it's super muddy, snail-paced build ups of hazy lo-fi rumbling drones...it is quite literally the ideal noise for evening listening. He had a way of taking the sound and approach of early HNW and making it more hushed and mellow, as if you were hearing …
Tip! *In process of stocking* An extended and remastered edition of this excellent tape (one of my favorites in the AAD catalog) that came out last year and sold out way too fast. When I first heard this material I immediately knew it was worthy of a CD edition, but we already had everything mapped out for a tape. So here it finally is, just in time for his East Coast Tour this Fall...and this is not an act you can afford to miss...truly one of the most unpredictable and interesting Harsh Noise …
Tip! *In process of stocking* Reissue of the infamous collaboration between Canadian Harsh Noise titans The Rita, Taskmaster & Sick Buildings. Originally available as a single sided tape that was only the 15th AAD release at the time (2007), this was and still is an important document of "Harsh Noise Wall" in it's earlier more dynamic developmental stages.
*In process of stocking* I've been waiting to do this one for awhile, after discovering the project through cult Swedish label Ominous Recordings. Anonymous Masturbaudioum has been making "perverse electronics" since 2010, always guided by an obsessive nylon fetish first and foremost, but also (on this release specifically) drawing inspiration from the work of painter Alberto Burri. The result is two heavy pieces of (almost) unchanging walls with excellent low end tone and crunching texture...a …
*In process of stocking* Roman Marble is an exciting under the radar project from Japan, who I first discovered after their submission to the "Hidden Promulgation" compilation awhile back (and that track actually ended up being one of my favorites on there). I have been eagerly anticipating this full length release ever since, and it does not disappoint.
Past efforts were more HNW based (and equally good) but this one is a departure from the confines of that style in favor of a more free and exp…
Tip! *In process of stocking* This is the first ever split tape release on AAD. I used to dislike split releases but I have learned to appreciate them with the right pairing, and that is definitely the case with this one, since both projects are from Norway and are frequent collaborative partners already...this tape finds them working separately but also together, each creating half of what is "No Vacancy!" as a whole. Side A is a "Harsh Jazz" assault from the Scandinavian duo Maranata, a two ma…
*In process of stocking* "Piercing is my tape noise project and MOT is Paul van Trigt's. Paul is also a visual artist and colleague who has been responsible for making many AAD releases look good. We are a dream team and it was only a matter of time before we did something together showcasing our solo sound work.
Piercing's track is loosely based on traditional Egyptian funerary rituals..."Forbidden Wailing" is a reference to Egyptian women verbally expressing their grief and sadness during mour…
For those who have followed this project over the years, at this point you are either fully on board or perhaps you've abandoned ship. This is not the type of project you occasionally dabble with, it's a multi-verse of escapism for the fanatically obsessed. It's not just about the sound either...all of the myriad themes and imagery as well as the sound source origins are equally important to the entirety of the whole experience. This is elevated art with concealed benefits earned by means of cul…
Sixty minutes of crunching HNW by Fleshlicker, originally available as a self-released cassette back in Spring of 2021 with only 10 copies made...now available again as an extended reissue including updated art/layout as well as a remix by The Rita.
