The latest effort by the legendary noisers...Incapacitants (インキャパシタンツ Inkyapashitantsu) are a Japanese noise music group formed in 1981. It consists of Toshiji Mikawa and Fumio Kosakai, whose stated aim is to produce "pure" noise, uninfluenced by musical ideas or even human intention, using primarily feedback, vocals, and various electronics. The group was formed in 1981 in Osaka, Japan, as the solo project of Mikawa, a member of the noise improv group Hijokaidan. Mikawa, a bank employee, later …
In May 2014, the group held their final concert as BiS Kaidan before disbanding, much as BiS themselves will disband in July. Notably, their final show began with the group performing "nerve", their representative song, thirteen times in a row.
Biskaidan is a cross-generational coup de pop, uniting two acts from opposing ends of Japan's musical spectrum. BiS (short for Brand-New Idol Society) are representatives of Japan's 'idol' scene, a culture of singerdancer-celebs who define the country'…
*restocked, reduced price* 5x CD + Dvd box collecting Junko Hiroshige (founder member of Hijokaidan) her unique and extreme vocal style. Life’s a scream with Junko, whose extreme vocals exemplify the principle of less talk and more action: with vocal chords of rarely equaled sustainability (mere mortals would suffer nodules like golf balls if trying to match her), Junko’s often brutal high-register insistence comes across like the voice of Linda Sharrock taken to sheer hellish extr…
Box is Stupid is a really luxurious and rather neat boxset that brings together 11 CD and 2Dvds cd's worth of early out print 1990’s tape releasers by Japanese noise tearing duo The Incapacitants. It's really a must have item item for any serious and discerning noise fan. "As far as I'm concerned, the Incapacitants are THE best noise band to ever come out of Japan. While they aren't as prolific or esoteric as some of their contemporaries, they've consistently been responsible for some of …
With a title like ‘Improvisation Anarchy’, you pretty much have the blessed assurance that the record will be either a right-on, spontaneous surge of electricity, or at least an entertaining disaster. Recorded in 1978-79, this patchwork quilt of straight-arrow punk and meandering synth-assisted psychedelia manages to be both at the same time. It should be noted that this kind of music was not common for 1970s West Japan before the ‘bubble economy’ of the 80’s allowed for more impulsive consumpti…
** long op, few copies back in stock** Originally released in 1986 as an LP on Alchemy Records. With a cover and title paying homage to their krautrock heroes Faust, Hijokaidan's Tapes is a crucial entry in their discography, a record originally released in 1986 as sort of a career retrospective to date, comprising tracks from various eras and lineups, all only previously available on cassette. It starts off way back in 1979 with Hijokaidan's first ever recording, the studio-destroying (so …
Classic Hijokaidan with the line-up of Junko, Jojo, Mikawa. Recorded at Gorilla, February 1989, Remastered by T.Kotani (Omega Sound). One 74 minute long piec
Reissue of an LP originally released in 1980 for the mythical Japanese Alm label and mixed by GAP (Taj Mahal Travellers) , this is a duo comprising of a couple, Reiko Omura and Tori Kudo, a noise-drone-improv duo active in the late seventies and early eighties. The group began under the name Worst Noise and with an ever-rotating line-up. This album is a masterpiece, a doomy organ-driven with fragile and melancholic voice by Reiko, don't miss it!
Outstanding double CD Featuring a mindblowing line-up of contributors, this double-disc release pays homage to noise music pioneers The New Blockaders, with tracks recorded by some of the avant-garde's leading lights, including Merzbow, Incapacitants, MSBR, Aube, K2, Violent Onsen Geisha, KK Null, Government Alpha, Astro, Cracksteel, Nobuo Yamada, Spiracle, Thirdorgan, Kazumoto Endo, Embudagonn 108, Guilty Connector, Defektro, Kouhei Matsunaga, Veltz, etc. 500 copies only!!!The New Blockade…
When the cassette 1984 was released on Chimik Communications in 1984, the Nihilist Spasm Band's last record was the 1978 Vol. 2. Although the band was very active at the time, playing every Monday night at Forest City Gallery in London, Ontario, since the mid-'70s, it very seldom recorded. 1984 was an attempt at documenting these weekly sessions. Tracks were edited from domestic recording tapes, therefore the sound quality is poor, bootleg-like at times (like on "Are You OK Bill? July 30 1984").…
