Interstitial Spaces
Interstitial Spaces (F90111) is the follow-up to Fabio Perletta’s 2013 CD Field: Atom(s) Entropy. With this new work Perletta investigates the physical phenomenon of the “Interstitial Space” which is the point in a crystal lattice where the perfection of the atomic structure is broken or suspended resulting in open spaces for unexpected resonances. After his investigations of entropy with Field: Atom(s) Entropy, here the underlying inspiration is anomalies within atomic structure such as vacuums…
Elision
Edition of 300. Pinkcourtesyphone reaches out and touches someone… in this case an international call with Dutch harpist extraordinaire, Gwyneth Wentink. Wentink weaves her magic on the triple harp a replica of a harp from around 1600 made of 3 rows of strings instead of the more common single row. The effect is a multi-timbral coalescence of mood, a conversation between layers. Pinkcourtesyphone thoughtfully folds, manipulates, and merges the gossamer resonances of the strolling fingers of Went…
Fahl
2014 release, edition of 300. “The three pieces of ‘Fahl’ are the results of a never ending recycling (not remixing!) of one and the same structure recorded deep in the past. That means recycling of recyclings of recyclings… With ‘Fahl’ the series comes to a temporary end to be continued sometime. The idea behind this esthetic strategy is the question: why further on creating genuine music? Our recent digital and analog tools enable us to derive nearly every sonic event from nearly every o…
Undefined
Undefined is the first collaboration between artists Richard Chartier and Yann Novak. For this piece the artists chose to collaborate in a way that was less about concept and more about the act of listening. The piece began with Chartier creating an unfinished work and sending it to Novak with no explanation, just the instructions to add to it, subtract from it, or a combination in order to finish the piece. Novak was then to send the recording back to Chartier for a simple approval or rejection…
Blue.Hour
Yann Novak Blue.Hour explores the high contrast colors created in the landscape during “l’heure bleue,” the period of twilight each evening when there is neither full daylight nor complete darkness. Directly following the ‘Golden Hour,’ know for its diffused yet powerful light, the Blue Hour retains the diffusion but lacks the strong light source giving this period of the day an especially melancholic and meditative atmosphere. Blue.Hour is presented here in stereo with some compositional elemen…
Circadian Rhythm, Sleep Disorder
LOGOS “The idea of dedicating a record to sleeping disorders hit my mind as an illumination when two tracks were already done and I was trying to find out their obscure sense. The more I searched for it the more I couldn”t sleep at night. Composing during nightime, through headphones, is a kind of sleep treatment for me. In a big city like Rome silence is a nearly nonexistent condition; only at night I seem to have the silence I need to concentrate, but some lonely car running down the road alwa…
Vir-Uz
The legendary M.B. / Maurizio Bianchi and the vulcanic Andrea Ics Ferraris team up for a special collaboration titled Vir-Uz. Their symbiosis has generated deep and intimate tracks around the biblical figure of Job, as you can read inside CD’s notes: “A salutary protagonist existed in proved real life with his disorientating trials at the lewd hands of Satan, his captious discussion with false friends on the origin and nature of his terrifying accidents, and finally a wise response from the p…
3048
A dark, choking, psychotropic immersion into abstract isolationist electronics, floating among rumbles, drones, bleeps, glitches...like a trip into the deepest corners of an obscure unknown galaxy, lost forever and glad of it! Everything is made with exclusive use of vintage equipment, no computers, no midi, no emulators…nothing can beat the sound of an unleashed vintage analogue synthesizer
