Aspect Of What
The learning process is just as much an act of healing as betterment. The enabling of solutions through sheer willpower and openness to discovery, or a noble mission, never completed. In that spirit, the latest album by Berlin-based Slovak duo Päfgens – comprising Jana Drábeková Kočišová and Filip Drábek – represents a pensive development for the project. Drifting from their lo-fi shoegaze beginnings, Päfgens drone-infused soundscapes have become increasingly immersive and expressive “framed imp…
Monogatari no youni Furusatohatoi
First time on vinyl. One of the earliest work by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The album released in 1976 is the only work left behind as a singer by Taeko Tomioka, who is also known as a poet. The iconic album jacket photographed by renowned Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki is undoubtedly one of the factors that make this album special. It is too avant-garde and fantastical to be simply called psychedelic, a masterpiece of madness that distorts the listener's sense of balance. The music production was…
The Solar Model of Ibn Al-Shatir
Pat Thomas returns to Otoroku for his fourth collection of solo piano improvisations, this time recorded in a studio setting at London’s Fish Factory.
Three On A Match
Sophie Agnel plays the whole piano. Its body matters as much as its strings. The keyboard's lid is just as good closed as it is open - in fact it’s best slammed open and closed rapidly. Joined by bassist John Edwards and drummer Steve Noble, Three on a Match explodes the piano trio - each player sparking off the other so quickly that it’s impossible to figure out who lit the flame.
Sunkissed
“The score aims to evoke the experience of proximity to the sun—a dual force that can be soothing one moment and hazardous the next. Sunkiss embodies this duality, where the sun's radiant energy sustains life's flourishing while also capable of devastating destruction. To be kissed by the sun signifies both blessing and curse, illuminating the fragile balance between vitality and peril that defines life on Earth.” Sunkissed is a live recording of a four-hour performance directed by Mylan Hoezen …

Days
What if beating a drum would raise a thunderstorm, as if a sound could alter the very fabric of reality? In their latest album Days, the experimental electro-acoustic duo Kashaiof expand their sonic explorations, integrating extended techniques of modular synthesis, ultrasonic feedback, field recordings, and acoustic instrumentation. In contrast to their previous releases Home (Chondritic Sound, LA, 2020) and MA (Under My Feet, London, 2022), where the voice was submerged in electrical responses…

St. Albert's Dream, Volume 3: The Alchemist's Phormula
The third release in the highly acclaimed St. Albert’s Dream series once again brings you some of the rarest and most obscure underground psychedelic cuts from 1968-1972. This time round, the Alchemist has mixed a “phormula” to take you on a deep underground trip of fuzzed-out psychedelic intensity, by creating elixirs of chemical-based sounds to remedy your psychedelic needs. You’ll hear a morbid swirling organ and guitar-driven tale of love lost from Mississippi’s Flower Power, heavy powerful …
Music For Peace and Harmony
Hiro Ama turned to an obscure 1980s Japanese synthesiser called the Waraku – literally translated to “peace and harmony” – to craft an album that blends electro-acoustic textures and warm melodies, while drawing on classical romanticism, spiritual jazz and electronic music. The album features collaborations from British singer Keeley Forsyth and flautist Gail Tasker. “A lot of things are fragile and chaotic at the moment in this world, and I wanted to make music to soothe my mind and heart. Mode…
